국문 초록

이 연구는 이주배경학생의 거주 지역(도시-읍면)에 따른 학업자아개념의 차이를 확인하고, 이에 영향을 미치는 거주 지역(지방자치단체) 간 이주배경학생 지원 정책의 차이를 분석한 것이다. 분석 결과, 도시 지역에 거주하는 이주배경학생에 비하여 읍면 지역에 거주하는 이주배경학생의 학업자아개념 점수가 유의미하게 낮게 나타났다. 그리고 학업자아개념에 영향을 미치는 것으로 알려진 다른 변인의 영향력에도 불구하고 거주 지역 변인은 독립적으로 학업자아개념에 유의미한 영향력을 나타냈다. 그리고 이주배경학생의 교육 성과 차이에 영향을 미치는 이주배경학생 지원 정책이 거주 지역(지방자치단체) 간에 차이가 있는지 분석한 결과, 17개 시도교육청의 이주배경학생 지원 정책의 배경과 내용에서 지역 간 차이가 드러나고 있었다. 향후 이주배경학생 지원 정책의 수립과 추진 과정에서 이주배경학생 거주 지역의 특성을 면밀하게 분석하고 반영하여, 지역의 교육 자치와 균등한 교육 기회 배분 사이의 적절한 균형을 찾을 수 있는 방안을 모색할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

This study examines the differences in academic self-concept of multicultural students based on their residential area (urban vs. rural) and analyzes the variations in support policies for multicultural students across different local governments. The analysis revealed that the academic self-concept scores of multicultural students living in rural areas were significantly lower than those of their urban counterparts. Furthermore, even after accounting for other variables known to influence academic self-concept, the residential area variable independently showed a significant impact on academic self-concept. An analysis of the support policies for multicultural students across 17 metropolitan and provincial education offices revealed regional differences in the background and content of these policies. Consequently, this study emphasizes the necessity of meticulously analyzing and reflecting the characteristics of the residential areas of multicultural students in the formulation and implementation of future support policies. Such an approach aims to find an appropriate balance between educational autonomy and equitable distribution of educational opportunities across regions. In the process of formulating and implementing future support policies for students with a migration background, it is essential to closely analyze and reflect the characteristics of the areas where these students reside. Additionally, there is a need to explore measures that can find an appropriate balance between regional educational autonomy and the equitable distribution of educational opportunities.
