국문 초록

본 연구는 한국어와 미얀마어에 있는 ‘위-아래’ 은유 표현을 대조하여 양 언어의 차이점 및 공통점을밝히는 데 목적이 있다. 이에 인지언어학의 기제인 개념적 은유 이론의 지향적 은유를 적용하여 일상경험, 신체적 경험, 사회·문화적 경험을 기반으로 은유화되는 양상에 대해 살펴보았다. 한국어와 미얀마어에서 ‘위-아래’ 은유는 기준, 연령, 신분, 글에 나타나는 위치, 지리적인 위치, 양, 평가, 감정, 영향권, 의식의 관점에서 대조하였다. 한국어와 미얀마어에 있는 ‘위-아래’ 은유의 개념화 과정에는 보편성이 있다는 점을 볼 수 있는데 기준이나 연령의 관점에서 개념화할 때 표현하는 표현 방식에는 상대성이 있다는 점을 볼 수 있다. 한국어의 ‘위-아래’ 은유 표현은 직접적인 은유 표현을 사용하는 반면에미얀마어의 ‘위-아래’ 은유 표현은 구체적인 표현을 사용한다. 이를 통해 언어와 문화 간의 공통점 및차이점을 이해하는 데 도움이 될 수 있으며 학습자들이 은유를 올바르게 이해하고 사용할 수 있도록지원할 수 있는 중요한 자료가 될 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to clarify the differences and similarities between Korean and Myanmar language by contrasting ‘up-down’ metaphor expressions. In this study, the orientational metaphor of conceptual metaphor theory which is based on everyday experience, physical experience and socio-cultural experience. In Korean and Myanmar Language, ‘up-down’ metaphor was contrasted in terms of criteria, age, status, position in writing, geographical location, quantity, evaluation, emotion, sphere of influence and consciousness. It can be seen that there is universality in the process of conceptualization of ‘up-down’ metaphor in both language. And there is relativity in the language expression when conceptualized from the perspective of criteria and age. In Korean, up-down metaphor used as a direct expression but in Myanmar. it used as a specific expression. So, this paper can help to understand the similarities and differences between languages and cultures. And it can be an important resource for helping korean learners and for using metaphors correctly.
