국문 초록

목적 본 연구에서는 Ivan Illich의 핵심사상에 기반하여 중등 진로교육의 대안적 패러다임을 탐색하였다. 방법 연구방법은 교육과 노동을 포괄하는 Illich의 저서 4권을 대상으로 귀납적 내용분석을 실시하였다. 결과 첫째, Illich의 핵심사상의 주요영역은 크게 통찰과 대안이라는 두 가지로 구분되었는데 통찰 영역은 근대문명의 숨겨진 본질과 폭력성의 근본적 원인과 과정을 파악한 것으로 세 가지 요인(① 근본적 독점 ② 버내큘러(Vernacular)와 커먼(Common)의 감퇴 ③ 근대적 노예의 탄생)으로 구성되었다. 대안 영역은 제도적 차원의 대안과 문화적 차원의 대안으로 구분할 수 있었는데 제도적 차원의 요인은 공생적 재도구화(Convivial Retooling), 문화적 차원의 요인은 자율적⋅창조적 삶의 회복으로 나타났다. 둘째, Illich의 핵심사상에 기반한 우리나라 중등 진로교육의 대안적 패러다임은 ‘지역사회 기반의 자율⋅공생적 삶을 위한 여정’으로 ‘수평적⋅비선형적 거미줄’ 모형으로 나타났다. 결론 Illich의 핵심사상에 기반한 대안적 패러다임으로의 전환을 위해서는 기존의 진로교육에 대한 인식, 체제, 문화 차원에서 다음과 같은 변화들이 요구된다. 먼저 인식 차원에서는 ‘진로’란 ‘자신에게 가장 좋은 삶이란 무엇인지 숙고하는 과정’이며, ‘진로교육’은 ‘그러한 삶을 위한 역량과 자신감을 키울 수 있도록 교육적 환경 및 지원체제를 마련해주는 것’으로의 인식 전환이 필요하다. 다음으로 고착화된 기존 교육체제에서 벗어나 새로운 배움의 양식으로서의 진로교육 체제가 요구된다. 마지막으로 문화적 차원에서는 마지막으로 사회가 현재의 진로 교육관에 대해 함께 반성하고 변화해 나가야 한다. 더불어 후속연구에서는 SOLE, Gaviotas와 Cuba의 교육혁명처럼 우리 교육체제가 사회적 이념 등의 이유로 주목하지 않았던 대안적 사례들을 더욱 다채롭게 살펴볼 필요가 있음을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives Based on Ivan Illich's key ideas, this study explored an alternative paradigm for secondary career education. Methods The research method involved an inductive content analysis of four of Illich's works that cover education and labor. Results First, Illich's key ideas were divided into two main areas: insight and alternatives. The insight area comprised three factors (1. radical monopoly, 2. the decline of vernacular and commons, and 3. the birth of modern slavery) that reveal the hidden nature and violence of modern civilization. The alternative area consisted of institutional and cultural alternatives, with convivial retooling as the institutional factor and the recovery of the autonomous and creative life as the cultural factor. Second, an alternative paradigm for secondary career education in Korea based on Illich's key ideas emerged as a “journey toward autonomous and convivial life based on the local community” represented by a “horizontal and non-linear spider web” model. Conclusions To transition to an alternative paradigm based on Illich's key ideas, changes are required in the perception, system, and cultural dimensions of existing career education. First, in terms of perception, “career” needs to be understood as “a process of contemplating what is the best life for oneself,” and “career education” needs to be recognized as “providing an educational environment and support system to develop the capabilities and confidence needed for such a life.” Second, a new form of the career education system needs to be established, moving away from the entrenched existing educational system. Finally, in the cultural dimension, society needs to reflect on and transform the current career education system. Additionally, future research should examine a more diverse range of alternative cases, such as SOLE, Gaviotas, and Cuba's educational revolution, that has been overlooked by our education system due to social ideologies and other reasons.
