또래 놀이에서 나타나는 5세 유아의 리더십 탐색

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 5세 유아들이 또래와의 놀이에서 발휘하는 리더십을 살펴보는 것에 그 목적이 있다. 방법 이를 위해 5세 유아 19명(남아 10명, 여아 9명)과 교사 1명을 연구 참여자로 선정하였으며, 관찰자로서의 참여관찰 방법과 비구조화된 면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였으며, 자료수집과 자료 분석을 병행하면서, 수집한 자료는 반복해서 읽으면서 부호화 및 그룹화하여 범주화하는 과정을 거쳤다. 결과 그 결과, 또래 놀이에서 나타나는 5세 유아의 리더십은 크게 네 가지의 모습, 즉 놀이의 시작과 방향성을 제시하는 리더십, 놀이 구성원을 발전시키는 리더십, 놀이 속 갈등을 해결하는 리더십, 놀이를 지시하고 통제하는 리더십으로 나타났다. 또한 5세 유아들이 또래 놀이에서 보여준 다양한 리더십의 모습을 탐색한 결과, 유아들은 상황에 따라 제각각 특정 맥락의 놀이에서 그들이 지닌 리더십을 다르게 발휘하고 있으며, 더 유능한 리더일수록 다양한 리더십을 적절하게 발휘하며, 특히 영향력의 크기에 차이는 있지만 모든 유아가 자신만의 리더십을 또래 놀이에서 발휘하고 있음을 보여주었다. 결론 이러한 연구 결과는 또래와의 놀이 상황에서 발휘되는 유아들의 다양한 리더십 모습에 대한 새로운 이해를 도울 뿐 아니라, 모든 유아가 자신만의 리더십을 발휘하고 있다는 사실을 통해 또래 놀이에서 리더십 발휘를 돕고자 하는 교사에게 기초 자료를 제공할 수 있으리라 판단된다.

영문 초록

Objectives The present study describes the leadership styles of 5-year-old children in play situation. Also, this study interprets the meaning of these leadership styles. Methods For the purpose of understanding the leadership style of young children, this study conducted topic oriented ethnographic field work in day care center classroom for 3 month. The data were collected through participant observation in the day care center classroom and interview with teacher and content analysis. Results Based on the analisis of ethnographic data thus collected, the results showed that the leadership styles of young children in play situation were the Leadership that suggests the beginning and direction of play, Leadership in developing peers, Leadership in Resolving Conflicts in Play, Leadership that directs and controls friends. The meaning that these leadership styles have were there is leadership style that playing to its strengths in a certain situation, effective leader utilize various leadership styles flexibly and every child is leader. Conclusions These findings should contribute to teacher's understanding of young children' leadership. And they can be used as a reference for planning appropriate ways to structure early childhood educational activity.
