서해안권 국가지질공원 안내판에 대한 고등학생들의 시각적 주의 분석

국문 초록

목적 이 연구의 목적은 국가지질공원 안내판에서 고등학생들의 시각적 주의를 분석하고, 이를 통해 지질공원 안내판의 내용 진술 및 배치에 대한 개선 방향을 찾는 것이다. 방법 이를 위해 연구자들은 시선 추적기(Tobii Pro Glasses 2 모델)를 활용하여 특성화고등학교 학생들(N=13)이 3종의 지질공원 안내판을 읽는 동안 그들의 시선 고정 시간, 시선 경로, 시선 전환에 대한 자료를 수집하여 분석하였다. 결과 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 고등학생들은 지질공원 안내판에서 이미지보다 문자에 집중해서 지질 구조를 이해하려고 하였다. 둘째, 지질공원 안내판에서 고등학생들의 시선은 객체가 갖는 정보의 중요성에 영향을 받지만 대체적으로 위에서 아래로 왼쪽에서 오른쪽으로 고등학생들의 시선이 이동하였다. 셋째, 지질공원 안내판에서 고등학생들은 지질 구조를 설명하는 문자 영역을 중심으로 이미지 영역과 그들의 시선을 활발하게 전환하였다. 결론 그러므로 고등학생들의 시각적 주의에 따라 문자 영역은 안내판의 중간 부분에, 문자 영역과 시선 전환이 활발한 영역은 문자 영역 가까이에, 그리고 지질공원 안내판의 내용 요소는 시선 경로와 일치하는 순서대로 배치하여야 한다. 본 연구의 결과는 차후 지질공원 안내판을 제작하거나 지질공원의 지구과학적 교육 환경을 개선하는데 실질적으로 도움을 줄 수 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate the visual attention of vocational high school students on the national geopark information boards, and to find the reformation for the descriptive contents and layout of the geopark information boards. Methods For this, we collected and analyzed data on fixation duration, gaze plot, and transition of fixation while vocational high school students (N=13) read three types of geopark information boards using a eye tracker (Tobii Pro Glass 2 model). Results The results were as follows. First, high school students tried to understand the geological structure by focusing on texts rather than images while reading the geopark information boards. Second, high school students' eyes generally scanned from left to right, top to bottom on the geopark information boards but their visual attention were influenced by the importance of the object. Third, high school students actively transfered their visual attention to the image area, focusing on the text area explaining the geological structure on the geopark information boards. Conclusions Therefore, according to the visual attention of high school students, the text area should be placed in the middle of the information boards, the area that actively transfered to the text area should be disposed close to the text area. And the learning contents should be arranged in the order that matches the gaze plot on the geopark information boards. The results of this study can substantially help to produce a geopark information boards in the future and improve the environment of earth science education in the national geopark.
