생태 복원과 이상적인 농경 공동체

국문 초록

본 논문에서 우리는 사람들이 떠나가 버려 황폐해진 땅을 생태적으로 회복시켜 사람들이 함께 살 수 있는 마을을 만드는 주제를 담은 두 작품 소생(Regain) (1930)과 나무를 심은 사람(L’Homme qui plantait desarbres) (1953)을 고찰한다. 이 두 작품은 함께 연결해서 고찰할 때, 황폐한 땅의 회복, 폐허가 된 마을의 재건,이상적인 농경 공동체의 건설이라는 주제를 온전하게 이해하는 계기를 마련할 수 있다. 이 두 작품은 공통의 주제를 다루면서도 각기 새로운 내용들을 담고 있기에 이 두 작품을 상보적으로 고찰함으로써 지오노가 추구하는 생태 회복과 그 의의에 대한 좀 더 총체적인 면모를 파악할 수 있다. 우리는 본 연구를 통해 생태 회복을 추구한각각의 작품이 지오노가 추구한 이상적인 농경 공동체와 연결되어 있으며 그 농경 공동체가 지오노의 아나키즘과관련되어 있음을 주장하고자 한다. 자연의 혹독한 환경을 극복하려 노력하는 ‘고독한 영웅’에 의한 생태 회복의 과정은 지구 온난화로 인한 자연재해가 심각하게 진행되고 있는 현대에도 유의미한 메시지를 제공함을 역설하였다.

영문 초록

In this paper, I consider two works of Jean Giono, Regain(1930) and L’Homme qui plantaitdes arbres(1953), which contain the story of ecological restoration of the devastated land wherepeople can live together. When these two works are connected and considered together, theycan provide an opportunity to fully understand the themes of restoration of desolate land,reconstruction of ruined villages, and construction of an ideal agricultural community. Sincethese two works deal with common themes and each contain new contents, by considering thesetwo works complementarily, I can grasp the ecological recovery and significance that Gionopursues. Through this study, I would like to argue that each work pursuing ecological restorationis connected to the ideal agricultural community pursued by Giono and that the agriculturalcommunity is related to the anarchism of Giono. I emphasized that the process of ecologicalrecovery by the “lonely hero” who tries to overcome the harsh environment of nature provides ameaningful message to modern times when natural disasters caused by global warming areseriously progressing.
