국문 초록

본 연구는 코로나19로 ‘사회적 거리두기’가 진행되는 가운데 대학생들의 내적 성찰에 대한 동기부여를 위해 고안한 것으로, 대학생을 위한 성찰적 글쓰기의 효과와 의미를 탐색하는 질적 연구이다. 이를 위해 연구자가 담당하고 있는 S대학교 1학년 교양필수 과목인 <비판적 읽기와 글쓰기>의 수강생 총 137명을 대상으로 성찰적 글쓰기 교육을 진행하였다. 3주차에 비대면 실시간 수업으로 성찰적 글쓰기 교육을 실시한 다음, 학생들에게 3주 동안 자신의 내면과 일상을 성찰하는 시간을 갖고 에세이를 작성해서 제출하도록 하였다. 본고는 수집된 글쓰기 자료 가운데서 대학생들의 ‘자기 인식’과 관련된 글을 중심으로 고찰하였다. 연구 결과, 학습자의 자기 인식은 ‘자기 인식의 부족과 내면의 중심 찾기’, ‘가면에의 인식과 진정한 자아 발견’, ‘내적 상처에의 인식과 자기 수용’이라는 긍정적인 변화를 드러냈다. 또한 성찰적 글쓰기 교육의 효과와 의미에 대한 긍정적인 인식도 확인할 수 있었다. 보조자료로 삼은 설문조사 결과에서도 이를 뒷받침하는 유의미한 성과를 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 코로나19 팬데믹 속에서 대학생들이 성찰적 글쓰기 경험을 통해 자기 인식을 높이고, 변화된 일상에 대응하는 힘을 기를 수 있는 계기가 되었다는 점에서 의미를 지닌다.

영문 초록

This study was designed for the motivation of college students’ inward reflection and meaning while ‘social distancing’ progresses because of COVID-19, which is qualitative research to explore the effectiveness of reflective writing for college students. For this purpose, this study had an education of reflective writing with 137 students taking “Critical Reading & Writing,” a general requirement for freshmen in S University, which the researcher takes charge of. After having the education of reflective writing in the third week through an untact real-time class, the researcher asked the students to have time to reflect on their inner side and daily life for three weeks and to prepare and submit an essay. This paper examined the students’ writings related to their “self-awareness” of the collected writing materials. As a result of the research, the learners’ self-awareness showed positive changes, including “the realization of the lack of self-awareness and the finding of the inner center”, “the recognition of masks and the discovery of the true self” and “the recognition of inner wounds and self-acceptance.” Furthermore, a positive perception of the effectiveness and meaning of reflective writing education could be identified. Also, in the results of the survey taken as supplementary materials, significant achievements supporting this could be found. This study has a significance that it has prepared an opportunity for college students to develop the force to increase self-awareness through reflective writing experiences and to respond to changed daily life in the COVID-19 pandemic.
