ESCS 상위집단의 학업성취에 미치는 변인 탐색

국문 초록

본 연구는 경기교육종단연구(GEPS 2012) 초등 패널 3차년도(2014년) 데이터를 사용하여 경제·사회·문화적 배경 상위집단에서 학업저성취와 고성취를 보이는 학생들을 비교하여 학업성취에 미치는 변인이 무엇인지 탐색한 연구이다. 이를 위해 경제·사회·문화 지위가 제3사분위수 이상인 학생 중 학업성취도가 높은 집단과 낮은 집단을 선별하여 개인 수준과 학교 수준으로 분석하였다. 분석방법은 다층 로지스틱 회귀분석으로 하였으며 분석 결과, 국어 교과에서는 성별, 정신건강, 신체 자아개념, 자기효능감, 학업 스트레스가 학업성취에 영향을 주었고 수학 교과에서는 성별, 신체 자아개념, 자기효능감, 수업 이해도, 수업 집중도, 지역, 교수자 중심 학습활동이 학업성취에 영향을 주었다. 영어 교과에서는 정신건강, 학업 스트레스, 시험 스트레스, 수업 이해도, 감독적 부모 양육, 교사의 사기/열의, 지역이 학업성취에 영향을 주었다. 이 같은 결과를 바탕으로 연구결과의 의미와 한계점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to find out what variables affect academic achievement by comparing students with low or high academic achievement in the high groups of economic, social, and cultural status(ESCS) using data from the 3rd year of the Elementary Panel of the Gyeonggi Education Panel Study(GEPS). To this end, among the students with ESCS above the third quartile, the group with high academic achievement and the group with low academic achievement were selected and analyzed at the individual level and the school level. The analysis method was multilevel logistic regression analysis. As a result of analysis, gender, mental health, physical self concept, self-efficacy, and academic stress influenced academic achievement in Korean language subject. And gender, physical self-concept, self-efficacy, and instruction understanding, concentration of instruction, educational district, and instructor-centered learning activities influenced academic achievement in math subject. In the English subject, mental health, academic stress, test stress, instruction understanding, parental monitoring, teacher morale·enthusiasm, educational district influenced academic achievement. Based on these results, the meaning and limitations of the research results were discussed.
