비동시적 온라인 토론활동 지원 피드백 시스템 개발 및 사용성 평가

국문 초록

온라인 토론활동은 교육적 효과가 있는 교수학습활동이지만, 가상의 공간에서 비동시적으로 음성이 아닌 문자로 의견을 주고받아야 하기 때문에 기술적인 한계가 있다. 온라인 토론학습환경의 한계를 극복하기 위한 이 연구의 목적은 온라인 토론활동과정에서 학습자들의 토론참여에 대한 정량적 피드백은 시스템에서 자동적으로 제공하고 토론의견에 대한 정성적 피드백은 교수자와 동료가 제공할 수 있는 시스템을 개발하고 그 사용성을 평가하는 것이다. 선행연구를 종합적으로 분석하여 온라인 토론활동지원 피드백 시스템의 설계안을 마련하였다. 2회에 걸친 전문가 타당화 검사를 통해 수정·보완된 설계안에 따라 시스템이 구현되었다. 개발된 시스템에 대한 사용성 평가를 위한 연구참여자는 H대학교의 31명의 대학생들이고 효과 평가에 참여한 연구대상자는 K대학교 44명의 대학생들이다. 두 대학교의 연구참여자들은 모두 개발된 온라인 토론활동 지원 피드백 시스템에서 2회 동안 온라인 토론활동을 수행하였고 필요에 따라 사전, 사후 검사를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 사용성 측면의 하위 네 개의 변인에 대해 학습자들은 모두 상당수준으로 긍정적으로 평가하였고, 개방형 질문에 대한 학습자들의 응답을 통해 시스템과 대시보드의 기능적 효과에 대해 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 학습자들은 개발된 시스템에서의 온라인 토론활동을 통해서 온라인 토론학습에 대한 태도 및 온라인 쓰기 효능감에 있어 통계적인 유의한 효과가 있는 것으로 확인되었고 시스템의 기능별 만족도 및 대시보드의 교육적 유용성에 대해서도 확인할 수 있었다. 다시 말해서 이 연구에서 개발한 온라인 토론활동 지원 피드백 시스템은 사용성 및 효과 평가를 통해 대학교육환경에 적용 가능한 시스템임을 확인할 수 있었다. 연구결과에 기반하여 연구의 의의에 대한 논의가 이루어졌다.

영문 초록

Online discussion activities are teaching-learning activities that have an educational effect, but there are technical limitations because opinions must be exchanged asynchronously in a virtual space by text rather than voice. The purpose of this study is to develop a system that can automatically provide quantitative feedback on learners participation in discussions, and qualitative feedback on discussion opinions to be provided by instructors and colleagues, and to evaluate its usability. The design of the feedback system was prepared by comprehensively analyzing previous studies. The system was implemented in accordance with the revised system design plan through two expert validation tests. The research participants for the usability test of the developed system were 31 university students at H University, and 44 university students at K University were participating in the effectiveness evaluation. Research participants conducted two rounds of online discussion activities in the developed system and conducted pre- and post-tests as needed. Studies have shown that all four variables related to usability were positively evaluated at a significant level, and the functional effects of the system and dashboard were confirmed through learners responses to open-ended questions. In addition, through online discussion activities in the developed system, learners were found to have a statistically significant effect on attitudes toward online discussion learning and online writing efficacy, as well as on the functional satisfaction of the system and the educational usefulness of the dashboard. In other words, it was confirmed that the feedback system to support online discussion activities developed in this study was applicable to university education environments through usability and effectiveness evaluation. Based on the results of the study, the significance of the study was discussed.
