문제중심학습(PBL)에 기반한 세계시민성의 함양을 위한 교양교과목 개발 및 운영사례

국문 초록

본 연구는 2018년-2019년에 개설된 I대학의 교양교과목인 <세계시민교육> 교과에 PBL을 적용한 교육설계 및 수업효과를 분석한 사례연구이다. 세계시민성은 일방향적인 지식 습득을 통해 축적되는 것이 아니라, 쌍방향적인 소통과 자기 성찰을 통해 형성되는 것이다. 이러한 실천적 지식으로서의 세계시민교육의 의미를 구현하기에 가장 적절한 교수학습법은 PBL이다. PBL을 기반으로 하여 문제제기단계에는 특강을 배치하여 다양한 주제에 걸친 제반지식을 습득하게 하였고, 문제해결과정에는 팀 단위 활동을 배치하여 실천으로서의 세계시민성을 인식하도록 구성하였다. 상호작용을 통해 경험과 이해를 끌어낼 수 있도록 도와주는 장치인 팀기반활동을 기본으로 하여 1차년도에는 학생들에게 특강에 대한 패널로서의 역할을 부여하여 자기주도성을 강화하고자 하였다. 그 과정에서 발견된 문제점들을 시정하여 2차년도에는 팀 단위 프로젝트를 수행하게 하였다. 설문조사 결과 학생들은 특강만으로 진행되는 수업보다 팀 단위 프로젝트과정이 포함된 교육과정을 5.4%p 더 선호하였으며, 강의만족도 역시 91%로 상승하였다. 또한 학습자 전원이 세계시민으로서의 역할과 책임, 세계시민의식의 중요성에 대해 잘 알게 되었다고 답했다.

영문 초록

This study is a case that analyzes the educational design and class effect of applying PBL to the subject of “Global Citizenship Education”, a liberal arts subject at I University in 2018-2019. Global citizenship is not built up through one-way knowledge acquisition, but through interactive communication and self-reflection. The most appropriate teaching method to realize the meaning of global citizenship education as such practical knowledge is PBL. Based on the PBL, special lectures were arranged in the stage of problem raising to acquire knowledge on various topics, and team activities were arranged in the course of problem solving to recognize global citizenship as an action. Based on team-based activities, a device that helps students draw experience and understanding through interaction, the first year was intended to strengthen self-directedness by giving students a role as a panel for the each lectures. In the second year, we discovered problems in the process and were corrected, and the team project was carried out. According to our survey for learners, they preferred 5.4%p more courses that included team-level project than classes that were conducted only with special lectures, and the satisfaction level of lectures also increased to 91%. All learners also said that they had became well aware of their roles and responsibilities as global citizens and the importance of global citizenship.
