‘자유학기 활동’의 정체성 및 교육과정적 발전 방향 탐색 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 자유학기제 교과 외 활동 교육과정인 ‘자유학기 활동’의 특징을 바탕으로 자유학기 활동의 정체성을 규명하고, 교육과정적 발전 방향을 도출하기 위해 수행되었다. 연구결과, 자유학기 활동의 영역별 정체성은 ① 진로탐색 활동 ‘나를 공부한다는 관점의 자기 탐색’, ‘학교 안 학습과 학교 밖을 연결한다는 관점의 세상 탐색’, ‘꾸준히 진로에 관심을 갖는 진로탐색 습관 형성’, ‘진로와 관련된 지식, 기술, 태도 등 진로탐색 역량 함양’ ② 주제선택 활동 ‘교과에서 확장된 주제에 대한 전문적 수업’, ‘학교 교육과정에 대한 학생의 요구 및 선택 강조’, ‘교사 차원의 교육과정 창작 및 수업 운영’, ‘학생의 참여 및 활동 중심 수업’ ③ 예술･체육 활동 ‘학생의 인성, 감성 역량 함양을 통한 전인적 성장’, ‘학생의 스트레스 감소 및 행복감 제고’, ‘음･미･체 교과에서 확장된 예술･체육 수업’, ‘학교 외부 전문적 인력 자원의 학교교육 참여’ ④ 동아리 활동 ‘학생 주도의 기획과 운영’, ‘학생 자치 경험 및 활성화’, ‘관심 분야의 특기, 적성 계발’, ‘학교와 교사의 관심과 지원’으로 구체화 되었다. 자유학기 활동의 총체적 정체성은 ‘교과와의 상호연계성’, ‘자유학기 활동의 영역 간 상호연계성’ 등으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 자유학기 활동의 교육과정적 발전 방향으로 ‘종적: 초등학교 및 고등학교와 구분되는 중학교 특성화 교육과정’, ‘횡적: 자유학기 활동을 마을교육과정으로’ 등을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to establish the identity of free semester activities, which are part of the school curriculum based on its characteristics and to derive the direction of educational development. This study found that the identity of free semester activities by domain has been embodied by ① Career Exploration Activities: ‘The self-discovery from the perspective of studying oneself’, ‘exploring the world from the perspective of connecting school learning to outside school’, ‘forming career exploration habits that are constantly interested in career path’, ‘developing career exploration capabilities including knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to career pathways’, by ② Theme Selection Activities: ‘Specialized classes on extended topics’, ‘emphasizing students’ needs and choices in the school curriculum’, ‘creating and managing curriculum at the teacher level’, ‘students’ participation and activity-oriented classes’, by ③ Arts and Sports Activities: ‘Holistic growth through fostering students’ character and emotional competencies’, ‘reducing stress and improving happiness for students’, ‘extended arts and physical education classes from music, arts, and PE classes’, ‘participation in school education of professional manpower resources outside of school’, by ④ Club Activities: ‘Student-led planning and operation’, ‘experiencing and activating student councils’, ‘development of one’s interests’, ‘the interest and support of schools and teachers’. The whole identity of free semester activities was found to be ‘interrelationship between the subjects’ and ‘interrelationship between areas of free semester activities’. Finally, the directions of educational development in free semester activities were discussed: ‘Longitudinal direction: middle-school-specialized curriculum that separates elementary and high schools’ and ‘cross-sectional direction: From free semester activities to village education curriculum’.
