학술적 글쓰기에서 대학원 유학생의 과제표상 교육 방안 탐색

국문 초록

본 연구는 ‘과제표상’ 교육이 학술적 텍스트의 질적 향상에 긍정적인 효과가 있음을 이론적 검토를 통해 확인하고, 대학원 유학생을 위한 ‘한 차시’ 과제표상 수업을 설계했다. 이때 대학원 유학생의 학술적 글쓰기에 대한 인식을 확인할 것, 과제표상의 특징과 과제표상 유형에 따른 텍스트 유형도 함께 설명할 것, 학술적 과제와 학술적 글쓰기의 특징을 설명할 것, 마지막으로 설명할 때 예상 독자를 학술 담화공동체의 구성원으로 고려할 것 등을 원리를 반영했다. 수업은 먼저 학술적 과제와 학술적 글쓰기를 가르친 후에 1단락 글쓰기를 하고, 대학원 유학생의 과제표상 교육을 진행한다. 마지막으로 과제표상과 장르 인식에 대한 자기 피드백을 한 후에 텍스트를 최종 수정하게 한다. 이 수업은 대학원의 학술적 글쓰기와 학위논문 중심의 수업에서 적용 가능할 것이다. 본 연구에서 설계한 수업은 유학생의 학습자 특수성과 학습 요구를 고려했다는 점에서 학습자 중심 교육을 지향한다. 이 수업이 대학원 교육과정에 반영되어서 대학원 유학생이 학술적 과제를 적절하게 해석하고, 텍스트를 향상시키는 데 도움을 줄 수 있기를 바란다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to design a task representation instruction, on the premise that a ‘task representation’ instruction positively influences qualitative improvement in academic text. But in view of learner specificity of foreign graduate students, design principles, such as identifying foreign students’ perceptions of academic writing, explaining text types in addition to task representation types, explaining characteristics of academic task and academic writing and considering the audience as members of academic discourse community when lastly explaining were added. The first stage of instruction is to teach about academic task and academic writing. It is followed by single paragraph writing and a task representation instruction including checking task representations of foreign graduate students is implemented. Lastly, students are asked to modify texts after self feedback. The instruction designed in this study is oriented towards learner-centered education by meeting learners’ needs for learning and giving consideration to learner specificity of foreign students. It is anticipated that this task representation instruction will help foreign graduate students interpret academic tasks properly and improving texts qualitatively.
