국문 초록

본 연구는 초등학생 집단의 그릿(Grit) 측정에서 신뢰도를 확보하는 방안을 탐색하려는 목적에서 수행되었다. 그간의 연구에서 지적된 그릿 측정의 문제점은, 척도가 그릿의 조작적 정의를 제대로 반영하지 않으며, 문항 진술 형식에 의한 방법효과가 나타나 검사의 신뢰도가 낮으며, 자기보고식의 평정으로 객관성을 확보하기 어렵다는 것이었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 그릿 측정의 신뢰도를 높이기 위한 방안으로 제3자 평정의 가능성을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구를 위해 초등학교 3-6학년 학생과 해당 학급 담임 교사를 대상으로 자기평가, 친구평가, 교사평가를 실시하여 최종적으로 평가 대상 학생 89명의 데이터를 확보하였다. 분석 방법으로는 일반화가능도 이론을 활용하여 먼저 G연구를 통해 그릿을 단일 요인으로 보는 모형과 2요인으로 보는 모형 두 가지를 비교하여 평가자 효과를 분석하고, D연구를 통해 그릿 측정의 효율적 조건을 탐색하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 문항 국면을 그릿의 두 하위 요인인 흥미유지, 노력지속으로 나눈 모형에서 평가자 효과가 나타났다. 둘째, 그릿 측정의 효율적 조건을 탐색한 결과 문항수가 12개로 유지될 경우 평가자 수는 최소 4명 이상 확보되어야 하며, 평가자가 1인일 경우 문항 수를 적어도 16개로 늘려야하는 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구의 결과는 초등학생의 그릿 측정에서 제3자 평정을 적절히 활용한다면 신뢰도 높은 측정이 가능함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted with the aim of exploring and improving reliability of grit measurement among elementary school students. The problem of grit measurement as pointed out in the previous study are as follows: grit scale does not properly reflect grit’s operational definition, the format of items tends to decrease the reliability by having method effect, and it is difficult to obtain objectivity since the scale used a self-reported rating. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the possibility of third-party evaluation as measuring grit in order to increase the reliability of grit. For this study, responses from 89 students’ data were collected by themselves, peer and teacher. We compared a single-factor model and two-factor model and analyzed the rater effect and investigated the efficient conditions of the grit measurement using generalizability theory(G-theory). The results of this study showed that first, the rater effect was found in the model in which the item phase divided by two factors (i.e. consistency of interest and perseverance of effort). Second, in terms of the effective condition of the grit measurement, if the number of items is 12, the minimum number of the raters should be 4 or more. If the rater is 1, the number of items should be increased to at least 16. The results of this study suggest that it is possible to use third-party ratings measuring students grit.
