‘지구의 역사’와 관련된 과학사 도입이 학생들의 과학 성취도 및 태도에 미치는 영향 분석

국문 초록

이 연구는 ‘지구의 역사’와 관련된 과학사 도입이 학생들의 과학 성취도와 과학 태도에 어떠한 효과를 내는지 조사하는데 목적이 있다. 연구를 위해 우리나라 남부지역의 중소도시에 소재한 A여자중학교 2학년을 연구 대상으로 하였다. 과학 성취도 검사는 전ㆍ후 내신 성적으로 효과를 검증하였으며, 과학과 관련된 태도에 대한 검사는 관련 검사지를 이용해 사전ㆍ사후검사 결과를 공변량 분석(ANCOVA)을 이용하여 검증하였다. 연구결과, 과학 성취도에 있어서는 사전검사에서 통제집단과 실험집단이 유의미한 차이가 없는 동질 집단이었으나, 수업 처치 후에는 실험집단이 통제 집단보다 높게 나타났지만, 통계적으로는 유의미하지 않았다. 하지만 학업성취 수준별(상ㆍ중ㆍ하)에 대해서는 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 특이할 만한 것은 중ㆍ하위권에서 상위권보다 과학 성취도 변화가 높았다. 과학과 관련된 태도에 대한 효과는 실험집단은 통제집단보다 훨씬 높은 태도 변화가 있었고 이 변화는 통계적으로 유의미하였다. 따라서 과학사 도입 수업은 과학 성취도 및 태도 변화에 긍정적이므로 많은 수업 자료 개발이 선행되어야 하며, 특히 중하위권 학생들에게 효과적이므로 과학 수업에 대한 흥미 제고를 위해 다양한 영역의 자료 개발을 고려해야 할 것으로 보인다.

영문 초록

This research is aimed at investigating how the introduction of scientific history, which related to “Earth History”, affects students scientific achievements and scientific attitudes. For the study, the second grade of A Girls Middle School in the southern part of Korea were selected. The scientific achievement data verified the effectiveness of the before and after school grades, and the tests of attitudes related to science were verified using the covariate analysis (ANCOVA) using the results of pre- and post-test. Studies show that in terms of scientific achievement, control groups and experimental groups were homogeneous groups with no significant differences but after the classes, the experimental group was shown to be higher than the control group, but was not statistically significant. There were statistically significant differences in the level of academic achievement (high, middle, and low), however, science achievement was higher in the middle and lower level students than in the upper level. The effect on attitudes related to science has been much higher in the experimental group than in the control group and this change has been statistically significant. Therefore, the science history introduction classes are positive for changes in scientific achievement and attitude, many class materials should be developed and are effective for middle and lower-level students, it is likely that they should consider developing data in various areas to enhance interest in science classes.
