대학 공학교육에서 성인지적 관점을 반영한 교수전략 개발에 대한 비판적 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 최근 공학 분야에서 여성 인력 부족 및 여학생들의 공학계열 진로 기피 현상의 원인을 젠더에 대한 이해와 고려가 충분히 이루어지지 못한 것에서 찾고, 이를 극복하기 위하여 성인지적 관점에서 공학교육의 교수전략 개발을 비판적으로 논의하였다. 이를 위하여 공학교육에서 성인지적 관점의 의미와 이를 반영한 교수전략 개발에 관한 정책적 지원 현황과 연구의 동향을 고찰하였다. 이러한 비판적 고찰을 기반으로 하여 대학의 공학교육에서 성인지적 관점을 반영한 교수전략 개발에 있어 제시할 수 있는 시사점으로는 첫째, 성인지적 관점 교육을 통해 인식 전환의 기회를 만들기, 둘째, 기존 남성 중심의 공학 문화를 변화시키기, 셋째, 젠더혁신을 통해 새로운 시각과 사회적 요구를 반영하기를 제안하였다. 본 연구는 성인지적 관점을 반영한 선행연구들을 총체적 관점에서 고찰하고, 공학교육에서 성인지적 관점을 기반으로 교수전략 개발이 어떤 방향성을 지녀야 하는지에 대한 시사점을 찾았다는 데에서 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 본 연구를 바탕으로 대학 공학교육의 실천에 있어 성인지적 접근에 대한 관심이 이어지기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

Recently in engineering field, it is emphasized to develop the curriculum and teaching strategies reflecting gender awareness perspective to overcome the issue, assuming that the shortage of female engineers and the reason that women leave engineering are associated with the lack of gender awareness. The purpose of this study is to examine the gender awareness perspective in engineering education, considering gender and cultural diversity goals. The study suggests two perspectives of engineering education within gender awareness perspective; to enhance the qualities of female themselves and to strengthen the gender awareness competencies for all the members of engineering education community. Based on these approaches, three basic principles for developing teaching strategies were suggested; first, to provide opportunities for paradigm shift through gender awareness perspective education, second, to change the male-centered engineering culture, and third, to reflect new perspectives and social needs through gendered innovation. This study is meaningful in that it summarized previous studies of teaching strategy based on gender awareness perspective and proposed the basic principles of teaching strategy development. Through the study, the education practice of gender awareness perspective wishes to be continued as a going concern in the engineering field.
