학생의 시민의식과 학업성취도의 관계 분석

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 경기도교육연구원 경기교육종단연구(GEPS) 3~6차 년도(2015~2018년) 데이터를 활용하여 학생의 시민의식과 학업성취도의 종단적 관계를 살펴보았다. 2018년 8월 경기도교육연구원으로부터 데이터를 제공받아 자료 분석을 실시하였다. 9월 요인분석, 기술통계, 상관분석 및 자기회귀교차지연모형(ARCL)을 활용한 분석을 실시하였다. 시민의식 관측변인으로는 공동체의식, 개방의식, 준법의식으로 분류한 각 문항 응답자료를, 학업성취도의 관측변인으로는 국어, 수학, 영어의 수직척도점수를 활용하였다. 그 결과 먼저, 학생의 시민의식과 학업성취도 간에는 명백하게 정적인 상관관계가 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 학업성취도와 학업성취도 간 매우 높은 상관관계를 가지고 있었고, 시민의식과 시민의식 간에도 높은 상관관계를 가지고 있었다. 시민의식과 학업성취도 간에도 비교적 낮지만 유의하게 정적인 상관관계를 보여 구체적으로 상호인과관계를 규명할 필요를 보였다. 다음으로, 학생의 시민의식과 학업성취도는 시간의 경과에 따른 안정성을 가지고 있었다. 이전 시점의 시민의식과 학업성취도는 각각 다음 시점의 시민의식과 학업성취도와 유사할 것이라는 예측이 가능하다. 특히 학업성취도는 시민의식에 비해 예측력이 더 높다고 할 수 있다. 마지막으로, 학생의 시민의식과 학업성취도 간 교차하여 미치는 종단적 영향력은 시점에 따라 다르나 일부유의하게 나타났다. 5차 년도의 시민의식은 6차 년도의 학업성취도에 유의하게 정적인 영향력을 가졌다. 역으로 5차 년도의 학업성취도가 6차 년도의 시민 의식에, 3차 년도의 학업성취도가 4차 년도의 시민의식에도 유의하게 정적인 영향력을 보였다.

영문 초록

In this study, we analyzed the relationship between student’s civic consciousness and academic achievement using data from Gyeonggi-do Institute of Education’s Gyeonggi Education Longitudinal Study 3rd~6th year. We performed factor analysis, descriptive statistic, correlation anlaysis and autoregressive cross-lagged analysis. As a observer of civic consciousness, it was utilized each question and answer data classified as community spirit, open spirit, and law-abiding spirit. And, as a observer of academic achievement, it was utilized evaluation of a vertical-scale in Korean, English, and math. As a result, first, there was a positive correlation between student’s civic consciousness and academic achievement. Between academic achievement, it was a very high correlation. And between civic consciousness, it was a high correlation. The relationship between civic consciousness and academic achievement was low but statistically significant correlated. So, I needed to check cause-and-effect relationship between them. Second, the civic consciousness and academic achievement of student apeared to be stable over time. A previous civic consciousness or academic achievement was able to explain the next time that. In particular, an academic achievement had a power of explanation about a next time that than a civic consciousness. Finally, there was a partially significant crossing longitudinal influence depending on time between student’s civic consciousness and academic achievement. A civic consciousness of 5th year had a statistically significant influence to an academic achievement of 6th year. In the meanwhile, An academic achievement of 5th year influenced statistically significant to a civic consciousness of 6th year. Also, there was a statistically significant influence from an academic achievement of 3rd year to an academic achievement of 4th civic consciousness.
