국문 초록

여성농업인의 역할 증대와 함께 그들의 학습 요구도 높아지고 있다. 그러나 농촌사회는 여성농업인의 교육확대에 수동적이다. 특히 저학력의 여성농업인은 맡은 일과 역할에 비해 충분한 권한을 갖지 못하며, 자존감이 낮다. 이에 본 연구는 여성농업인의 형식교육 참여 경험의 이유를 확인하고, 학습을 통한 삶의 변화를 살펴보고자 했다. 이를 위해 형식교육에 참여하고 있는 한 여성농업인을 선정하여, 면담과 전화인터 뷰를 통해 심층 면접을 실시하고 그 내용을 분석했다. 본 연구의 연구 참여자는 51세에 농업전문대를 시작으로 지역 국립대학으로 편입, 대학원으로 진학하여 지속적으로 형식교육에 참여하였다. 형식교육 참여는 경제적 목적으로 시작하여 점차 연구 참여자의 삶에 활력과 희망이 되었다. 교육의 지속과 함께 경제적 성장도 이루었으며, 그 결과 여성의 능력과 지위를 인정하지 않는 가부장적 농촌사회에서 점차 인정을 받게 되었다. 자기 스스로와 외부의 인정은 연구 참여자에게 자존감 회복은 물론 마음의 자유를 선물하였다.

영문 초록

Along with the increasing role of female farmers, their learning needs are also rising. However, rural communities are passive in expanding the education of female farmers. In particular, female farmers with low educational backgrounds do not have enough autority over their work and roles, and they have low self-esteem. This study was aimed to identify the reasons for female farmers participation in formal education and to examine life changes through learning. To this end, a female farmer who has participated in formal education was selected, and in-depth and telephone interviews were conducted. At the age of 51, Kim Kyung-sook, a participant in this study continued to participate in formal education by transferring to a local national university and then going to graduate school. Participation in formal education started for economic purposes and gradually became a life force and hope for the research participant. With the continuation of education, economic growth has been achieved, and as a result, it has gradually become recognized in the patriarchal farming communities and regions that do not recognize women s abilities and positions. Self and others recognition gave the research participant freedom of mind as well as self-esteem.
