남자대학생의 대학생활 적응, 학업 스트레스가 성 차별주의에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 남자 대학생의 대학생활 적응, 학업스트레스, 성 차별주의와의 관계를 파악하여 성 차별주의에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하고자 시도되었다. Y군에 위치한 4년제 대학의 남자대학생 195명을 대상으로, 2018년 3월부터 6월까지 자가 보고 식 설문조사로 시행되었다. 수집된 자료는 평균, 표준편차, Pearson correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression를 SPSS 19.0 프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과 남자 대학생은 학과의 성비 균형과 불균형과 관계없이 대학생활적응이 낮을수록 학업스트레스와 성 차별주의가 높고, 학업스트레스가 높을수록 성 차별 주의가 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 학업스트레스와 온정적 성 차별주의는 남자대학생의 적대적 성 차별주의에 영향을 미치는 변수로 모형의 설명력은 42%로 나타났다. 따라서 학과의 남녀 성비에 따른 성 차별주의는 상관관계가 없으며, 대학생활 적응을 잘 할수록 학업에 대한 스트레스도 감소하고 성 차별주의도 감소할 것으로 사료된다. 특히 남자대학생들이 군 제대 후 복학하는 경우 대학생활에 적응할 수 있는 맞춤식 적응 프로그램이 필요하다. 또한 여자 대학생을 단순한 경쟁의 대상이 아닌 동료로 인식을 전환할 수 있는 계기를 마련해 줘야 한다. 이를 위해 다양한 교육과정의 개선 및 비교과활동을 개발하여 남자대학생의 적극 참여를 권장해야할 것이다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study was attempted to identify the factors influencing sexism by identifying the relation between male college students’ adaptation to college life, academic stress, and sexism. Method: Self-reported survey was conducted on 195 male students of four-year-course colleges located in Y County from March to June 2018. Analysis of the collected data was conducted using SPSS 19.0 program, and descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression. Results: It appeared that male students had high academic stress and sexism when their adaptation to college life was lower regardless of the gender balance and imbalance of their department, and sexism turned out to be high when academic stress was higher. Academic stress and compassionate sexism were variables influencing the hostile sexism of male students, and the explanation power of the model was 42%. Therefore, sexism according to the ratio of men and women of the department had no correlation, and it is considered that the better the student adapts to college life, the lower the stress on academics and sexism. Conclusion: in case of male college students returning to school after being discharged from the military, a customized adaptation program that enables them to adapt to college life is needed. Furthermore, an opportunity should be provided for the male students to change their perception of female students as their colleagues rather than their competitors. For this purpose, active participation of male students should be encouraged by improving various curriculums and developing non-subject activities.
