구성주의 이론을 적용한 과학 활동이 유아의 과학적 탐구능력과 과학적 태도에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 누리과정 교사용 지도서의 과학 활동에 구성주의 이론을 적용하여 실시할 때 유아들의 과학적 탐구능력과 과학적 태도에 효과가 있는지를 알아보는 데 있다. 이를 위해 경상남도 C시의 H유치원 만 5세 유아 26명을 실험집단으로, B유치원 만 5세 유아 25명을 비교집단으로 하였다. 이들을 대상으로 2016년 4월 1주 부터 7월 2주까지 총 15주 동안 매주 2회 정도 과학활동을 실시하였으며, 과학적 탐구능력과 과학적 태도에 대한 사전 및 사후 검사를 시행하였다. 연구 결과 구성주의 이론을 적용하여 과학활동을 실시했던 실험집단이 지도서의 과학활동을 그대로 실시했던 비교집단에 비해 과학적 탐구능력과 과학적 태도에서 모두 효과가 있었다. 이를 볼 때 누리과정의 자연탐구영역에서 구현하고자 하는 구성주의 과학을 교사들 이 가능한 명확하게 이해하고 보다 쉽게 실행할 수 있도록 교사용 지도서의 과학활동에 대한 변화가 필요하다고 본다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine whether the science activities set forth in the Nuri course manual for teachers applied with the constructivist theory are effective for children s scientific inquiry ability and attitudes when the activities are executed by the children. To that end, 26 children aged 5 years attending H kindergarten in C city in Gyeongsangnam-do were assigned to an experimental group and 25 children aged 5 years attending B kindergarten in the same city were assigned to a comparison group. The children executed science activities about two times per week for a total of 15 weeks from the first week of April to the second week of July 2016 and the children s scientific inquiry ability and scientific attitudes were tested before and after the execution of activities. The results of the study indicated that the experimental group that executed the science activities applied with the constructivist theory was affected more by the activities in terms of both scientific inquiry ability and scientific attitudes compared to the comparison group that executed the science activities set forth in the manual for teachers as they were. Given the foregoing, the science activities set forth in the manual for teachers should be reviewed to modify and supplement or reorganize them so that teachers can more clearly understand the constructivist science intended to be implemented in the nature inquiry area of the Nuri course and implement it more easily.
