국문 초록

본 연구에서는 교수와 학습자가 ‘학문 목적 발표’에 대해 어떠한 인식을 가지고 있는지 설문 조사를 통하여 고찰하고, 학습자의 발표 능력 향상을 위해 교육에서 주안점을 두어야 할 부분이 무엇인지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 선행 연구를 바탕으로 학문 목적 발표의 요건을 5개의 대범주로 선정하고, 각 대범주에 속하는 하위 항목으로 설문 문항을 작성하였다. 이어 2015년 12월에 학문 목적 수업을 수강하고 있는 학습자 44명과 해당 과목의 강의를 맡고 있는 교수 10명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 설문 분석 결과 학문 목적 학습자의 발표 능력 범주에 대한 인식에서 교수는 ‘원 텍스트를 발표 텍스트의 목표와 성격에 맞게 전환하는 능력’, ‘발표내용을 구두 담화로 전환하는 능력’ 순으로 중요하게 여기는 반면 학습자는 ‘발표태도’와 ‘발표 내용을 구두 담화로 전환하는 능력’ 순으로 중요하게 여기고 있는 것으로 나타나 학습자와 교수자 간 인식에 차이가 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 통해 교수가 학습자의 학문 목적 발표 능력을 향상시키기 위해 어느 측면에서 학습자의 인식과 태도를 개선시켜야 하는지, 어떠한 교육적 처치를 해야 하는지 발견할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the difference in perception between professors and foreign learners and to examine which part of the undergraduate education should be focused on in order to improve the presentation skills of foreign learners. In order to conduct this research, five major categories were selected based on previous studies and the questionnaire items were written as sub items belonging to each category. Following this, in December 2015, a survey of 44 students participating in academic lessons and 10 professors taking this class was conducted. Based on the results, it was found that the presentation skills based on the professors’ perception was ‘The ability to convert the original text according to the target and nature of the presentation to presentation text’ and valued the ability to convert the presentation content into oral discourse whereas, the learner considers other presentation skills, as well as the ability to convert the presentation into oral discourse. In addition, we were able to find other meaningful differences and commonalities. Through these results, an understanding of why academic learners’ presentation skills were poor was gained and the educational measures professors have to take to improve the presentation skills of learners for academic purposes were discovered.
