유아의 참여권 신장을 위한 교육적 접근으로써 기록화의 가능성

국문 초록

본 연구는 교육을 통해 유아의 참여권을 보장하고 확대하기 위하여 기록화가 유아의 참여를 확대시키는 교육적 접근법으로써 가능성을 고찰하였다. 이를 위해 아동권리협약에서 제시하는 참여권 및 권리교육에 대한 의미를 먼저 고찰하고, 이를 바탕으로 기록화를 통한 교육에서 유아의 참여 가능성을 모색하였다. 본 연구는 유아의 참여권을 유아가 자신과 관련된 주요 공적 사안에 대한 의사결정에 참여하는 것으로 정의하고, 유아 중심의 기록화를 수행하는 과정에서 유아들의 역할을 분석함으로써 교육에서 참여권의 실현 가능성을 논의하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 유아는 기록화 과정에서 시각적 기록을 통해 문해력의 한계를 벗어나는 자유로운 정보접근자가 될 수 있다. 둘째, 유아는 새롭게 제기되는 공동의 생각을 함께 논의하기 위해 자발적으로 모이고 진지하게 논의할 수 있다. 셋째, 유아들은 자신들의 진짜 이야기를 들려주는 진실된 정보공개자가 될 수 있다. 넷째, 유아들은 지혜를 모아 교실을 변화시키는 실천가가 될 수 있다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 연구자들은 기록화를 통한 참여과정이 유아가 민주적 의사결정을 경험하여 시민으로서의 자질을 배우는 과정이 되며, 또한 유아에 의한 학습자 중심의 교육이 실현될 수 있음을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to review possibilities of pedagogical documentation as ways of an educational approach to promote young children’s participation rights. We examined the meanings of participation rights and education declared by the Convention on the Rights of the Child; we, then, analyzed the possibilities of young children’s participation through pedagogical documentation. In the study, we defined participation as decision-making in the public issues related to young children themselves. Specifically, we analyzed the participatory roles of children during pedagogical documentation initiated by young children. The result shows young children can play the following roles throughout the documentation process. First, young children can access the information whenever needed because visual records can emancipate young children from being illiterate. Second, they can voluntarily associate to seriously discuss the issues. Third, young children can publicize the true stories of their own learning experiences. Lastly, young children can change their classrooms with the wisdom that they make together. The study discusses that pedagogical documentation can provide young children with educative experiences of participating in democratic decision-making, which in conclusion can be child-centered learning experiences.
