융복합 교양교과목 시행과 학습자의 견해 분석

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 교양영어와 서양미술사를 융복합하는 시도를 통해 새로운 교양교과목을 개설, 시행하고 이에 대한 학습자의 의견을 살펴봄으로써 융복합 교양교과목의 방향과 가능성을 알아보고자한다. 방법 본 강좌를 수강한 전공과 학년이 다른 총 40명의 대학생에게 융복합 교걍 교과목에 대한 만족도와 과목의 장점과 단점에 대해 설문 조사를 하고, 이를 분석하였다. 만족도 관련 문항은 객관식 문항으로 제시된 반면, 학습자들의 다양한 견해를 듣기 위하여 서술형 문항도 함께 제시되었다. 객관식 문항은 만족도와 융복합 과목 간의 균형, 편향을 알아보기 위해 이들의 상관계수를 분석하였다. 결과 총 40명의 학습자의 본 교과목에 대한 만족도는 5점 만점에 4.2를 나타냈으며, 과목에 대한 장점으로는 동시에 두 가지 과목을 수강할 수 있다는 점과 서양 미술사를 학습할 수 있다는 점, 과제로 제시된 박물관 감상 리포트를 들었다. 반면에 단점으로는 서양미술사에 치중하여 영어 학습에 큰 도움이 되지 않았다는 점과 미술사에 대한 배경지식의 부족을 들었다. 장점에 대한 견해가 단점에 대한 견해에 비해 보다 구체적이었으며 다양한 의견이 제시되었다. 결론 서양미술사와 교양영어의 융복합적인 교양교육과정은 미술사를 통해 학습자의 타문화에 대한 이해를 높이고 영어를 통한 글로벌 의사소통 능력을 향상시킬 수 있는 가능성을 보여주었다. 그러므로, 미래의 융합교과 교육과정은 학생들에게 문화적 배경과 통합교과 간의 균형을 제공할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to examine the direction and possibility of the convergent liberal arts curriculum of humanities and arts. For this end, this research attempted to combine liberal English and Western art history and examine the opinions of learners. Methods The participants were 40 college students with different majors and grades who took this course. A survey was employed with two types of questions: one for their satisfaction was presented as multiple-choice questions, and the other for their various opinions of the strengths and weaknesses of the subject.was presented as descriptive questions. Results According to the results of the survey, the satisfaction of the subject was 4.2 out of 5, which was very similar to the opinion on the balance between English and Western art history. The advantage of the subject was that it was possible to take two courses at the same time, while the disadvantage was that it did not help English learning enough because it focused on Western art history. Conclusions The convergent liberal arts curriculum of West art history and liberal arts English has shown a possibility to foster learners' understanding of other cultures through art history and improve their global communication ability through English as a great tool. The future convergent liberal arts curriculum, therefore, needs to provide students the cultural background and balance between integrated subjects.
