일반계 고등학교에서의 고교-대학 연계 시-영상 통합 수업이 학생들의 미디어 리터러시 역량 함양에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 대학의 가용 자원이 지역사회 교육 질 향상에 기여하는지 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 고교-대학 연계 시-영상 통합 수업에 대한 학생들의 인식을 조사하였으며, 더불어 수업을 통해 학생들의 미디어 리터러시 역량이 함양되었는지를 확인하고자 하였다. 방법 2020년 10월 중순부터 11월 말까지 약 한 달 반 동안 일반계 고등학교 남학생들을 대상으로 정규교과 연계 프로그램인 시-영상 통합수업이 진행되었으며, 수업 전과 수업 후 두 차례 실시한 설문조사에 남학생 288명이 응답하였다. 설문내용은 시-영상 통합수업에 대한 학생 인식 및 미디어 리터러시 역량 함양에 대한 것으로, 학생 인식 문항은 ‘수업 전’, ‘수업실행’, ‘수업 후’의 세 가지 영역으로, 역량 함양 문항은 ‘이해’, ‘창작⋅표현’, ‘가치⋅태도’의 세 가지 영역으로 구성되었다. 학생들의 미디어 리터러시 함양 여부를 확인하기 위해 대응표본 t 검정을 사용하였다. 결과 첫째, 학생들은 하루에 ‘1시간 이상~2시간 미만’ 미디어를 시청한다고 응답한 경우가 가장 많았다. 또한 학생들의 33% 정도만이 미디어 리터러시 수업에 참여한 경험이 있다고 응답하였으며, 미디어 리터러시 교육을 처음 접한 시기는 ‘중학교’라고 응답한 경우가 가장 많았다. 학생들은 국어, 수학, 기술⋅가정, 미술 등의 교과 수업 시간에 미디어 리터러시 교육을 접하였다고 응답하였다. 또한 학생들은 수업 시간과 내용에 대해 전반적으로 만족하였다고 응답하였으며, 수업 전보다 수업 후에 미디어 리터러시 교육이 필요하다고 인식하게 되었다고 응답하였다. 둘째, 학생들의 미디어 리터러시 역량 함양 여부를 조사 결과, ‘이해, 창작⋅표현, 가치⋅태도’ 모든 영역에서 통계적으로 유의미한 향상이 있었음을 확인하였다. 결론 첫째, 미디어 리터러시 수업에서 학생들의 사회참여 및 소통에 실질적으로 기여하는 교육활동이 필요하다. 둘째, 지역사회 가용 자원을 활용한 고교-대학 연계 교육과정이 안정적으로 운영될 수 있도록 장기적인 계획과 그에 따른 지원이 필요하다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study was to determine whether the university's available resources contribute to improving the quality of education in the local community. For this study, the students' perception of the class integrating poetry and video was investigated, and it was also attempted to confirm whether the students' media literacy competency was cultivated through the class. Methods From October to the end of November 2020, a class that integrated poetry and video was conducted for general high school students, and two surveys were conducted before and after class. The contents of the questionnaire are about students' perception of the class that integrates poetry and video and the cultivation of students' media literacy competency. The respondents were 288 male students. Results First, students answered that they watched “more than 1 hour to less than 2 hours” of media a day the most. In addition, only about 33% of the students answered that they had participated in a media literacy class. The most common response was ‘middle school’ when they first encountered media literacy education. The students answered that they had encountered media literacy education in the subjects such as Korean, mathematics, technology/home, and art. In addition, students answered that they were generally satisfied with the class time and content. And students recognized that media literacy education was necessary after class rather than before class. Second, as a result of analyzing whether the students' media literacy competency was cultivated, it was confirmed that there was a statistically significant improvement in all areas of ‘understanding, creation⋅expression, value⋅attitude’. Conclusions First, educational activities that actually contribute to the social participation and communication of students in media literacy classes are required. Second, a long-term plan and support are needed so that the high school and college-linked curriculum using resources available in the community can be operated stably.
