입학전형에 따른 대학생의 학업성취도와 학과만족도 종단연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 대학 입학생들의 입학전형 유형이 입학 이후 학업성취도(GPA)와 학과만족도에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고, 그 결과가 지닌 교육적 의미를 해석하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 방법 D대학교를 사례로 분석하였다. 입학전형에 따른 2020학년도 재학생 학업성취도와 학과만족도의 차이 분석을 실시하였다. 입학전형을 학생부종합, 교과, 논술, 수능으로 세분하였으며, 입학전형에 따른 집단 간 학업성취도와 학과만족도 평균 차이 검증을 위해 일원배치분산분석(one-way ANOVA)과 사후검증(Scheffé)을 실시하였다. 다음으로, 입학전형에 따른 2019학년도와 2020학년도의 재학생 학업성취도와 학과만족도의 평균비교를 통한 종단분석을 실시하였다. 대응표본 t-검증을 실시하였다. 결과 입학전형별 학업성취도 차이를 분석한 결과 수시 중 학생부종합전형 입학생이 가장 높은 수준을 보였고, 이어서 수시 교과전형 입학생의 성취도가 높았다. 반면에 수시 논술우수자전형 입학생의 성취도는 정시 수능전형 입학생보다 낮게 나타났다. 종단분석을 실시한 결과 학업성취도의 전체 평균은 모든 전형에서 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 학과만족도에서 수시와 정시 입학생 간에는 전체적으로 차이가 확인되었다. 수시전형인 학생부종합전형, 교과전형, 논술전형 입학생들의 만족도가 정시 수능전형 입학생에 비해 높게 나타났다. 학과만족도에 대한 종단분석 결과, 교과전형, 수능전형, 논술전형 입학생들의 만족도는 상승한 반면, 학생부종합전형 입학생들의 만족도는 변화가 없었다. 결론 입학전형 유형이 학생들의 학업성취도와 학과만족도에 미치는 영향에 대한 합리적인 판단을 위해서는 보다 장기적인 차원의 종단연구가 수행될 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to find out how the admissions types of university students affect their post-admission academic achievement (GPA) and department satisfaction, and to interpret the educational significance of the results. Methods D University, a four-year comprehensive university, was analyzed as a case study. An analysis of the difference between GPA and department satisfaction of students enrolled in 2020 according to admissions was conducted. Admission screening was subdivided into student records comprehensive screening, school subject, essay writing, and SAT, and one-way ANOVA and Scheffé were conducted to verify the difference in average GPA and departmental satisfaction between groups according to admission screening. Next, longitudinal analysis was conducted by comparing the average of GPA and department satisfaction of current students in 2019 and 2020 according to the admissions process. A paired t-test was performed. Results As a result of analyzing the difference in academic achievement by admission processes, the students who entered through the student records comprehensive screening, which is a comprehensive student record screening, showed the highest level, followed by the students who entered through the screening for excellent school subjects showed high achievement. On the other hand, the achievement of students admitted with excellent essay writing skills was lower than those of regular admissions students with SAT scores. As a result of longitudinal analysis, it was found that the overall mean increased in all types. In terms of department satisfaction, there was an overall difference between occasional and regular admission students. Satisfaction levels of the students who entered through the occasional admissions were higher than those of regular admissions based on the SAT scores. As a result of longitudinal analysis of department satisfaction, satisfaction of students through the school subject records, SAT, and essay screening increased, while the satisfaction of students through the student records comprehensive screening did not change. Conclusions Considering the results of the study, a longer-term longitudinal study is needed to make a rational judgment on the effects of admissions types on students academic achievement and department satisfaction.
