학교전문상담사의 경험과 성장과정에 관한 질적연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 상담경력 5년 이상의 중년여성 학교전문상담사의 상담사로서의 경험 뿐 아니라 상담공부를 통한 내면적 자기성장에 관한 연구이며, 전문상담사로서 성장하는 과정의 의미를 알아보기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 방법 학교전문상담사로 근무하면서 상담대학원을 졸업하거나 박사과정을 수료한 상담경력 5년 이상의 중년여성 학교전문상담사 5명이 참여하였다. 자료는 2020년 9월부터 2021년 1월까지 2~3회의 심층면담을 실시하였고, 사례연구 방법 중 Creswell이 제시한 사례 내 및 사례 간 분석방법으로 분석하였다. 결과 분석 결과 사례 간 공통 주제는 총 17개, 사례 내 주제는 총 74개가 도출되었다. 도출된 자료를 바탕으로 학교전문상담사의 성장 과정을 ‘전문상담사의 길 진입’, ‘직무수행의 난관’, ‘전문가로서의 도약’, ‘상담사로서의 자기성장’으로 나누어 그 의미를 분석하였다. 결론 연구결과 학교전문상담사들은 중년기에 겪은 삶의 위기를 지속적인 상담공부를 통해 극복하였다. 상담사로서 향상된 전문성은 내담자의 문제를 심도있게 이해할 수 있게 하였고, 이는 내담자와 더불어 동반성장하며 개인 내적 성찰과 자기치유에 이르게 된다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그리고, 중년여성 학교전문상담사의 위상에 대한 추가연구 및 정년 이후 경력활용의 필요성에 대해 제언하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study is a study on inner self-growth through counseling study as well as experience as a counselor for middle-aged women s school counselors with more than 5 years of counseling experience and for the purpose of identifying the meaning of their growth as professional counselors. Methods Five middle-aged women s school counselors with more than 5 years of counseling experience who graduated from a counseling graduate school or completed a doctoral program while working as school counselors participated. The data were analyzed using the intra-case analysis method suggested by Creswell among the case study methods, which were conducted 2-3 times of in-depth interviews from September 2020 to January 2021. Results As a result of the analysis, a total of 17 common topics between cases and 74 topics within each case were derived. Based on the derived data, the growth process of professional counselors at school was divided into ‘entry into the path of professional counselors’, ‘difficulty in job performance’, ‘a leap as a professional’, and ‘self-growth as a counselor’, and the meaning was analyzed. Conclusions As a result of the study, school counselors overcame the crisis of life experienced in middle age through continuous counseling and study. The improved professionalism as a counselor was able to in-depth understanding of the client s problems. And, it was found that the counselor grows together with the client, leading to personal introspection and self-healing. Further research on the status of middle-aged women s school counselors is needed, and the need to utilize their careers after retirement was suggested.
