성인학습자의 대학평생교육 중도탈락 의사에 미치는 요인 분석

국문 초록

목적 본 연구의 목적은 성인학습자 전담 대학에 재학 중인 성인학습자의 중도탈락 의사(학업 중단 계획)에 영향을 미치는 요인을 개인배경, 대학평생교육 사업 구조와 연계된 대학특성, 학습자의 대학 내 학습경험 측면에서 탐색하고, 대학의 성인친화형 체질 개선을 위한 시사점을 도출하는 것이다. 방법 이를 위해 ‘대학의 평생교육체제 지원사업’에 참여 중인 성인학습자 전담 학과의 성인학습자를 대상으로 개인특성, 대학특성, 대학 내 학습 경험 요인, 그리고 중도탈락 의사에 대한 설문 조사를 실시하였고, 1,089명의 데이터를 분석에 활용하였다. 분석방법으로는 SPSS 25.0을 활용해 위계적 이항 로지스틱 회귀분석을 적용하였다. 결과 분석결과 첫째, 성인학습자의 개인특성요인, 대학평생교육 사업과 연계된 대학특성요인, 교수학습경험요인 모두 성인학습자의 중도탈락 의사에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 성인학습자의 개인특성요인 중 특히 ‘입학 전 최종학력’과 ‘통학 거리 요인’이 중도탈락 의사에 결정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 대학특성요인 중 ‘대학 소재지’와 ‘평생교육사업 유형이 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 넷째, 학습경험 중 ‘예습 수업 준비 경험’과 ‘협력 학습 경험’이 중도탈락 의사에 대한 상대적 영향력이 높게 나타났다. 결론 분석 결과를 토대로 성인학습자 전담 대학의 서비스 질 제고 및 성과 도출을 위한 시사점을 제시하였고, 그것이 대학의 성인친화형 대학으로 체질 개선을 하는 중요한 의미를 지님을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aimed to examine the factors affecting dropout intention (plan for suspension of studies) of adult learners being enrolled in universities dedicated to those learners in terms of personal background, university characteristics linked to the lifelong education business structure of the universities, and leaners’ learning experiences in universities and to derive implications for improving the constitution of the universities to be adult-friendly. Methods To this end, we conducted a survey on individual characteristics, university characteristics, factors of in-university learning experience, and dropout intention for university adult learners participating in LiFE Project , respectively, and analyzed the data of 1,089 people. a hierarchical binary logistic regression analysis was applied using SPSS 25.0. for As an analysis method. Results The analysis results are as follows. First, it has been found that all of the personal characteristics of adult learners, university characteristics linked to the university lifelong education project, and learning experiences have a significant effect on adult learners’ intention to dropout. Second, in particular among the personal characteristics of adult learners, it has been shown that ‘the highest level of education before admission’ and ‘commuting distance’ have a decisive effect on intention to dropout. Third, among university characteristics, ‘university locations’ and ‘types of the lifelong education project’ have a significant effect on intention to dropout. Fourth, among learning experiences, ‘preparation experiences for classes beforehand’ and ‘collaborative learning experiences’ have been found to have a relatively strong effect on intention to dropout. Conclusions Based on the analysis results, it has presented implications for improving the service quality of universities dedicated to adult learners and for getting good results.
