경남 고성군 상족암 일대의 야외지질 학습 프로그램 개발 및 적용

국문 초록

목적 본 연구에서는 탐구 학습에 어려움을 느끼는 교사들에게 도움이 되고, 초등학생들에게 과학에 대한 흥미와 호기심을 높이기 위해 경남 고성군 상족암 일대의 야외지질 학습 프로그램을 개발하였다. 방법 교육과정에서 추출한 학습 개념과 야외지질 학습장에서 학습할 수 있는 개념을 연결하여 야외지질 학습 프로그램을 개발하였고, 이를 초등학교 5~6학년으로 구성된 15명의 과학 동아리 학생들에게 적용하였다. 결과 초등학교 과학과 교육과정에 제시된 지층, 퇴적암, 화석 관련 개념을 학습하는 장소로 고성군 상족암 일대를 선정하고, 사전 학습 단계 - 야외지질 학습 단계 - 사후 학습 단계가 잘 연계된 총 13차시의 야외지질 학습 프로그램을 개발하였다. 개발된 야외지질 학습 프로그램은 자기 주도적인 탐구 활동이 가능하도록 각 차시별 탐구 문제로 구성되어 있다. 결론 야외지질 학습 프로그램을 적용한 결과 사전 학습 단계에서 학습한 개념들이 야외지질 학습의 탐구 문제를 해결하는 데 도움이 되었으며, 초등학생들에게 다양한 지질학적 현상을 통해 과학에 대한 흥미를 높일 수 있었다. 또한, 지질학과 관련된 진로에도 관심을 가지는 등 과학과 관련된 진로 탐색의 기회가 되었다.

영문 초록

Objectives In this study, field geology program was developed around Sangjokam, Goseong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, to help teachers who have difficulty in inquiry learning and to increase their interest and curiosity in science for the elementary students. Methods For this purpose, we develop an field geology program by linking the learning concepts extracted from the curriculum with those that can be learned in the outdoor geological activities. The program was applied to 15 science club students consisting of 5th to 6th graders in elementary school. Results For this purpose, Sangjokam area in Goseong-gun was selected as a place to learn concepts related to strata, sedimentary rocks, and fossils presented in elementary school science and curriculum. Then, we develop a field geology program with well-linked pre-learning stage - field geology learning stage - post-learning stage. Conclusions As a result of applying field geology programs, the concepts learned during the pre-learning stage helped solve the inquiry problem of field geology learning, and elementary school students were able to increase their interest in science through various geological phenomena. It also became an opportunity for scientific career exploration, including interest in geology-related career paths.
