대학생의 비교과 교육 참여 유형에 관한 연구

국문 초록

최근 대학에서 대학교육의 질 제고와 역량기반 교유과정 구축을 위해 비교과 교육 프로그램이 다양하게 운영되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 대학생의 비교과 교육 프로그램 참여 유형을 군집분석을 통해 도출함으로써 비교과 교육과정 운영의 나아가야 할 방향을 모색하는데 있다. 이를 위하여 한국교육종단연구 9차년도 학생 자료를 활용하여 군집분석을 실시하고 군집유형과 학생 개인 및 대학의 환경 변수와의 연관성을 탐색하였다. 연구결과 네 가지 유형을 도출하였으며, 각각의 유형은 프로파일을 검토하여 참여형, 봉사형, 글로벌형, 일반형으로 명명되었다. 또한 이러한 비교과 교육 참여 유형이 성별, 학년, 전공계열, 전공형태, 대학유형, 대학소재지에 따라 어떻게 분포하는지 카이제곱 검정을 실시하였으며, 그 결과 성별과 학년, 전공계열에 따른 비교과 교육 참여 유형의 분포에 유의한 차이가 있음을 발견하였다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 대학에서 비교과 교육을 실시함에 있어 각 학습자의 유형별로 적절한 교육적 처방을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

In recent years, competency-based education and improving the quality of university education have been emphasized in higher education, and extra-curricular programs have been managed and executed in various forms in university education. The author, therefore, has tried to find out the types of participating university students through a cluster analysis in order to gain an understanding of the implications on extra-curricular education. For this purpose, the cluster analysis was conducted with the 9th year data from a Korean Education Longitudinal Study. The models of general education that emerged from the cluster analysis were compared across individual and college environment variables. The study found that there are four distinctive subgroups in terms of participation patterns: less-engaged type, volunteers type, global type, and engaged type. In addition, a chi-squared test was conducted to determine how the types of participation of university students were distributed according to individual (gender, grade, major and type of major) and college environment variables (institutional type, location). There were significant differences found in the distribution of participation in extracurricular programs according to gender, grade and major. Based on the results of the study, the practical implications for extracurricular program education in universities are discussed.
