국문 초록

본 연구는 <대전비엔날레 2018: 바이오>를 중심으로 바이오아트가 다루고 있는 담론들을 살펴보고, 현 시대의 인간과 생명에 대한 관점들을 작품 분석을 통해 추론하고자 한다. <대전비엔날레 2018: 바이오>는 인간과 생명의 범주에 대한 질문을 단지 생물학적인 영역에 국한시키지 않고 철학적이고 예술적인 영역으로 확장시켜 다루고 있다. ‘바이오(Bio)’라는 주제는 4개의 소주제-바이오 미디어(Bio Media), 불로장생의 꿈(Dream of Eternal Youth), 디지털 생물학(Digital Biology), 인류세의 인간들(Men of Anthropocene)-로 나누어졌고, 다양한 예술가, 과학자, 공학자들의 작품들이 전시되었다. 그것은 예술, 과학, 기술의 융복합을 시도하는 것일 뿐만 아니라 새롭게 등장하게 될 인간과 생명의 외형적이며 내재적인 모습들을 소개하고 탐구한다는 점에서, 포스트휴먼의 담론으로 연결될 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 <대전비엔날레 2018: 바이오>의 작품들을 바이오미디어의 활용과 바이오이슈의 생성 측면에서 살펴보고, 그 정체성을 포스트휴머니즘의 측면에서 탐구한다. 그것은 바이오아트의 목표가 새로운 인간과 생명의 가능성을 발견하는 것에 있다는 것을 포스트휴머니즘과의 연관성 아래 확인하는 것으로서, 전통적인 인간과 생명의 조건들을 탈피하거나 거부하는 초휴머니즘(beyond humaninsm) 또는 반휴머니즘(anti-humaninsm)과도 연결된다. 그것은 새로운 인간종과 생명종의 출현을 암시하는 <대전비엔날레 2018: 바이오>의 작품들 속에서 다양한 방식으로 확인된다.

영문 초록

This study examined the characteristics of bio-artworks in in order to consider the discourses on humans and life in the present era. deals with questions about the categories of a human and life by extending them to the philosophical and artistic domain, not just the biological domain. The theme “Bio” was divided into four subthemes: Bio Media, Dream of Eternal Youth, Digital Biology, and Men of Anthropocene. It can be connected to the post-human discourse in that it not only attempts to converge art, science, and technology but also explored the external and intrinsic aspects of a new human and life. Therefore, this study looked into the works of in terms of the use of bio-media and the creation of bio-issues and explored its identity in terms of post-humanism. This was to confirm that the goal of bio-art is to discover the possibility of a new human and life in connection with post-humanism. It is also connected with beyond-humanism or anti-humanism, which escapes or rejects the conditions of a traditional human and life. It is confirmed in various ways in bio-artworks of , which implies the emergence of new human species and life species.
