문화예술 분야의 방향성 구축을 위한 기초연구: 일반대학원 ‘문화예술학과’ 교육과정 현황 분석을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 국내 일반대학원 ‘문화예술학과’의 교육과정 현황을 문화예술의 학문적 연구기반 구축의 관점에서 검토하고, 차후 본 분야의 방향 모색을 위한 시사점을 제시하고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 국내 일반대학원에서 ‘문화예술학과’의 명칭으로 운영 중인 4개 학교 교육과정의 개설 현황, 교육목표, 교과과정 및 교과목, 담당 전임교원 및 졸업생 학위논문 유형 등을 분석한 결과, ‘문화예술 분야의 지도자 양성’을 공통 교육목표로 두고 학교마다 상이한 교육과정을 운영 중인 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 각 대학 해당학과의 담당 전임교원들의 전공 및 연구영역은 예술을 바탕으로 경제, 행정, 공학, 철학 등의 넓은 범주에 걸쳐 있었으며 졸업생 학위논문에 있어서는 박사논문이 석사논문에 비해 현저히 높은 비중을 나타내는 가운데 ‘공연예술’ 장르와 복합적 연구방법, ‘문화예술경영’ 주제/내용에 의한 연구가 많은 것으로 나타났다. 향후 ‘학문의 탐구’를 중심으로 하는 일반대학원으로서의 고유 기능과 역할 가치를 향상시켜 문화예술의 이론적, 학문적 정립을 이루기 위해서는 교육목표나 교과과정의 체계 및 방향성의 명확한 제시, 확립을 통해 자격증 취득과 기업 연계 등 실무측 면에 중점을 두는 특수대학원과의 차별화 도모가 필요하며, 문화예술 영역의 이론, 철학, 미학 등 인문학적 기반의 강화가 교과과정 제고에 필수요소라 판단된다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to explore the current state of ‘Department of Culture and Arts’ curriculums in domestic general graduate schools, examine their improvement points and direction for development. To this end, the overall current status of the curriculums established and offered in the name of ‘Department of Culture and Arts’ in four domestic general graduate schools were examined in terms of current establishment status, educational goals, courses offered and full-time faculty in charge, in addition to an analysis on the types of thesis by the graduates. It was found that each school are operating different curriculums with the common educational goal of ‘cultivating leaders in the field of culture and arts,’ Study results also showed that the fields of major and research of the full-time faculty in charge of the curriculum at each department and school spanned across economics, administrative science, engineering and philosophy while commonly anchored on arts. As for the types of thesis by the graduates, it was found that doctoral dissertations heavily outnumbered master s theses and that many theses involved genres of‘performance art’, mixed research methodology and themes/contents pertaining to ‘culture and arts management.’ In conclusion, to recognize culture and arts as an academic discipline and establish relevant theoretical grounds by improving the unique function,’it is necessary to promote differentiated special graduates schools that emphasize practical aspects such as students acquisition of professional certificates and connection to businesses through clear establishment and presentation of educational goals .In this regard, the essential condition for curriculum improvement is the reinforcement of foundation in the humanities such as theories, philosophy and aesthetics in culture and arts.
