혁신학교 고등학생의 인지적, 정의적 성취에 대한 종단적 비교 분석: 특목고, 자사고, 일반고와의 차이를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 서울시교육청의 혁신학교 운영이 고등학생의 인지적 성취와 정의적 성취에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 서울교육종단연구(SELS)의 동일 표본에 의한 고등학교 1학년(2013년)부터 고등학교 3학년(2015년) 데이터를 이용하여 특수목적고등학교, 자율형 사립고등학교, 일반고등학교, 혁신고등학교 간 연도별 차이와 변화 추이를 비교 분석하였다. 네 집단 간 시기별 차이를 확인하기 위한 일원 분산분석 결과, 학교유형에 따라 연도별 학생의 인지적 성취와 정의적 성취는 통계 적으로 유의미한 차이를 확인할 수 있었다. 특히 특목고와 자사고 학생들의 국어, 영어, 수학 학업성취도와 창의성, 진로성숙도, 자아존중감은 일반고와 혁신고의 학생들에 비해 모두 높은 수준을 보여주고 있었다. 다음으로 시간에 따른 변화의 차이를 검정하기 위한 반복측정 공분산분석을 실시하여 학교유형에 따른 변화 추이를 분석한 결과, 영어와 수학 학업성취도에서 연도*학교유형 사이에 유의미한 상호작용 효과를 보이고 있었다. 구체적으로 혁신고의 학생들과 다른 유형의 고교 학생들 간의 영어, 수학 학업성취도 격차가 줄어드는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 정의적 성취에서는 학교 유형간 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 본 연구 결과를 토대로 향후 혁신학교 운영의 시사점과 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 하였다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the influence of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education s Innovation Schools operation on the cognitive and affective achievements of high school students. We conducted a comparative analysis of special purpose high schools, independent private high schools, regular high schools, and innovation high schools, focusing on period differences and trend of changes. We examined data from the same sample used in the Seoul Education Longitudinal Study (SELS) and confined our analysis to the 1st through 3rd years of high school (2013-2015). We employed one-way ANOVA to identify the differences between the four groups by period. In addition, in order to track the differences in trend of changes between the groups, we conducted repeated-measures ANCOVA using student-level background variables and family-level background variables as covariates. The key results of our analysis were as follows. Depending on school type, we found statistically significant differences between the cognitive and affective achievements of the students by period. In particular, the Korean, English, and math achievements as well as the creativity, career maturity, and self-esteem of students at special purpose high schools and independent private high schools were higher than those of students at regular high schools and innovation high schools. Our analysis of trend of changes by type of school showed a significant correlation between year and school type regarding English and Math achievements. Specifically, we identified a reduced gap in students’ English and Math achievements between innovation high schools and the other types of high schools. However, we found no significant difference between the school types when it came to affective achievements. In the final section of this article, we discuss the implications of these results for the operation of innovation schools and make suggestions for future research.
