2009 개정 초등과학교과서에 제시된 캐릭터 삽화의 역할 및 유형 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 2009 개정 교육과정 초등과학교과서에서 최초로 제시된 캐릭터 삽화를 내용적 측면에서 범주화하고 그 역할과 외형적 측면에서의 유형 분석을 실시하였다. 이를 위해 3~6 학년 과학교과서의 물질과 에너지, 생명과 지구 영역 그리고 탐구 단원에 제시된 총 271개의 캐릭터 삽화에 포함된 텍스트의 역할을 동기 유발, 학습 활동 안내, 사고 촉진, 자료 제공, 탐구 결과로 범주화하여 학년별, 단원별, 영역별로 내용을 분석하였다. 그 결과 캐릭터 삽화는 자료 제공 역할이 가장 많았으며 탐구 활동 안내, 동기 유발, 사고 촉진, 탐구 결과 순으로 나타났다. 캐릭터 삽화의 외형적 특성은 사람 형태의 캐릭터 221개 중에 남자 131개, 여자 87개가 제시되었으며, 동물 6개, 사물 38개가 나타났다. 이처럼 본 연구의 2009 개정 교육과정 초등과학교과서에서 그림과 텍스트의 복합적 형태로 제시된 캐릭터 삽화의 분석은 향후 초등과학교과서 개발에서 캐릭터 삽화가 학생들의 동기 유발과 사고 촉진에 미치는 영향에 대한 체계적인 후속 연구 등을 통해 효과적인 캐릭터 삽화 활용에 대한 시사점을 제공할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study categorizes the roles of character illustrations that appeared in the 2009 revised curriculum elementary science textbooks and provides basic data necessary for development of future textbooks through role and type analysis. In order to accomplish the purpose of research, it is necessary to classify the character illustrations in textbooks of grade 3～6 in the 2009 revised curriculum into the content aspect and the external aspect. The contents aspect focuses on the texts included in the illustration, And analyzed the character itself. The results of the study are as follows. First, this study categorized the role of character illustrations in textbooks as motivation, guidance of learning activities, stimulation of thinking, providing data, and inquiry results. Second, in analyzing the character illustrations of the 2009 revised elementary science textbooks, the character illustrations roled providing data are the most abundant, followed by guidance of learning activities, motivation, stimulation of thinking, and inquiry results. According to the results of analysis by grades, 4th grade, 3th grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade appeared in that order. In terms of areas, life, exploration, earth, energy, and material were in order. In this study, we analyzed these character illustrations in terms of roles and utilization, considering grade, field, and unit. Third, as a result of analyzing the external characteristics of the character illustrations, 221 human characters and 44 non - human characters were analyzed. The results of this study are significant in that they categorize the role of the character illustration presented in a complex form of picture and text and analyze the character artwork used in the textbook. And the results of this study will make the use of character illustration more systematic and effective in the process of developing the next elementary science textbook.
