국문 초록

2015 개정 교육과정에서 핵심역량이 강조되면서 이를 위한 다양한 수업 방식의 시도가 이전보다 늘어나고 있다. 그 중에서 학습자 스스로 직접 생각, 체험하고, 토론하는 ‘역사하기(Doing History)’가 가능한 프로젝트 역사 수업이 주목되고 있다. 프로젝트 역사 수업은 학습자 스스로 문제의식을 가지고 주제를 선정하는 단계부터 조사, 연구, 발표 및 평가까지 학습의 모든 과정에 걸쳐 학습자 스스로가 참여하는 수업 모형을 말한다. 프로젝트 역사 수업은 기존 암기식 역사 수업을 벗어나 학습자 스스로 문제 해결 방법을 찾아가며 문제해결을 통해 성공 경험을 갖게 하고, 모둠원 간의 상호 협력을 통해 문제를 해결하여 결과를 도출할 수 있게 한다는 점에서 역사 수업의 현실적인 대안이 될 수 있다. 프로젝트 역사 수업에서 교사는 안내자로서 학습자와의 활발한 피드백을 통하여 학습자가 유의미한 학습 결과를 얻을 수 있도록 도와주는 조력자 역할을 수행하게 된다. 이러한 프로젝트 학습의 중요성이 점차 강조되고 있지만 역사 수업에서 프로젝트 학습의 활용도는 매우 낮다. 따라서 입시체 제, 평가의 공정성, 수업 환경의 제한 등 여러 제약이 있겠지만 앞으로 다양한 프로 젝트 역사 수업에 대한 실천적인 연구가 활발하게 이루어져야 한다. 이는 2015 개정 교육과정에서 강조하고 있는 핵심역량을 기르는 일이기 때문이다.

영문 초록

As the 2015 revised national curriculum stresses core competencies, more and more teaching methods are being tried these days. Among them, project history class is being highlighted as it allows learners to ‘doing history’ involving thinking on their own, experiencing, and discussing, and so on. Project history class refers to the class model that allows learners to participate directly in all the processes of learning, from the step to choose a topic based on their critical mind to those of investigation, research, presentation, and evaluation. Because project history class allows learners to find solutions to problems themselves being freed from existing history class focusing on memorization, have successful experiences through problem solving, and draw a result by solving problems through mutual cooperation among group members, it can turn out to be a realistic alternative for history class. In the project history class, the teacher plays roles as a guide exchanging feedback positively with learners and as an assistant helping learners to gain significant learning results. Although the importance of project learning is being emphasized more and more gradually, it is, in fact, hardly being used in history class. Therefore, even though there exist several barriers in applying it, for example, the entrance examination system, fairness of evaluation, or restrictions in class environment, it is needed to conduct practical research on project history class multilaterally and aggressively afterwards. It is because this is a way to enhance core competencies stressed in the 2015 revised national curriculum.
