코로나19 상황에서 어린이집 영유아의 스트레스와 보육교사의 지원

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 코로나19 상황 속에서 영유아들이 어린이집 생활을 하며 나타내는 스트레스 반응과 원인을 탐색하고 스트레스 감소를 위한 보육교사 지원은 어떠한지 살펴보는데 목적을 두었다. 방법 코로나19 상황에서 영유아들의 어린이집 생활을 관찰하고 지원한 강원 영동지역 S시 보육교사 18명을 대상으로 3명씩 각 2회의 미니 포커스 그룹 면담을 하였으며 구체적 정보가 더 필요한 경우 1회의 추가 전화 면담을 하였다. 질적연구 분석 방법을 바탕으로 면담 내용의 전사본과 현장노트를 1, 2차에 걸쳐 분석하고 최종 범주를 도출하였다. 결과 코로나19 상황에서 어린이집 영유아들이 보인 스트레스 반응으로는 부적응 행동하기, 감염의 두려움 극복을 위해 애쓰기, 방역의 피로 호소하기, 코로나19 받아들이기 중심으로 나타났다. 또한 공간의 축소로 인한 어려움, 어린이집에서도 느껴지는 막연한 불안 요소, 마스크 착용의 불편함이 영유아의 스트레스의 주요 원인으로 분석되었다. 개인적 특성으로 인한 체감 정도의 차이도 스트레스의 원인이 되었다. 교사들은 코로나19 상황에서의 어린이집 영유아들이 경험하는 스트레스가 감소 될 수 있도록 적절한 에너지 발산의 기회제공하기, 즐거운 것에 더 관심가질 수 있도록 돕기, 감염 및 방역 스트레스 지원하기 등의 방법으로 돕고 있었다. 결론 코로나19 상황 가운데 어린이집이라는 환경 맥락 안에서 영유아들이 다양한 스트레스 반응을 보임을 알 수 있으며 그 원인은 감염에 대한 두려움에 국한하지 않고 다양함을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 영유아들의 스트레스 감소를 지원하기 위한 교사들의 노력을 자세히 파악할 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과는 감염병 재난 상황에서 영유아의 정신건강을 돕기위한 방안을 마련하는데 시사점을 제공할 것이다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study was to explore the stress responses and causes of young children in daycare due to COVID-19, and to suggest how to support childcare teachers for stress reduction. Methods Mini-focus group interviews were conducted with 18 teachers, who observed children’s behavior in daycare centers. Two interviews were conducted. If additional information is needed, phone interview was performed. The final classification was derived through two analyses according to the qualitative research analysis method. Results Young children s stress responses induced by COVID-19 in daycare centers were as follows: maladaptive behavior, overcoming infection fears, complaining of quarantine fatigue, and accepting COVID-19. In addition, difficulties due to space reduction, ambiguous anxiety factors felt at daycare centers, and discomfort of wearing masks were analyzed as major causes of Corona 19 stress in daycare centers for young children. Differences in emotional levels according to individual characteristics were one of contributing factors to stress. To release the stress due to COVID-19, the methods teachers used were as follows: providing adequate energy dissipation opportunities, helping them focus more on fun things, and supporting infection and isolation stress. Conclusions In the daycare centers, it can be seen that young children had presented various stress responses to COVID-19, and its cause was not limited to the fear of infection. In addition, it was possible to understand in detail the efforts of teachers to support the stress reduction of young children. The results of this study will provide implications for preparing a plan to help children s mental health in the event of an infectious disease disaster.
