대학 신입생의 중도탈락의도와 고등학교 시기 및 대학 변인의 영향

국문 초록

목적 본 연구에서는 대학 신입생의 중도탈락의도와 고등학교 시기 및 대학 변인의 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 방법 부산교육종단연구 ‘BELS 2016’의 고등학교 패널의 3차, 4차 추수자료를 활용하여 대학 입학 후 중도탈락의도가 있는 신입생 295명(25.6%)과 중도탈락의도가 없는 신입생 858명(74.4%), 총 1,153명을 대상으로 SPSS 20.0을 활용하여 차이분석과 이항 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 결과 첫째, 중도탈락의도 여부에 따른 성별, 고교유형, 부학력, 가구소득, 대학유형, 대학소재지 분포에서는 남학생에 비해 여학생이 학업지속가능형과 더 관련 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 중도탈락의도 여부에 고등학교 시기 변인에는 정신건강, 학교만족도 교사관계적응에서 중도탈락의도 여부 간에 유의한 차이가 있었고, 대학 변인에서는 대학만족도, 교육과정만족도, 교수진만족도, 교육서비스만족도, 진로지원만족도, 전공자부심에서 중도탈락의도 여부 간에 유의한 차이가 있었다. 셋째, 중도탈락의도 여부에 대한 관련 변인들의 상대적 영향력은 교육서비스만족이 가장 높았고, 성별, 정신건강, 교육과정만족, 전공자부심, 진로지원만족, 대학만족도 순으로 나타났다. 결론 이러한 결과는 대학의 중도탈락 방지를 위해 개인 및 사회환경적 요인, 그리고 중등 및 고등교육의 복합적인 요인에 대한 접근이 모색되어야 함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of the study was to identify the influences of variables of high school period and college variables on intention of college freshmen’s school dropouts. Methods The third and fourth wave data of the high school panel of 2016 Busan Education Longitudinal Study were used. The final analysis subjects were 1,158 students, 295(25.6%) students who were willing to drop out after entering college and 858(74.4%) students who were not willing to drop out. For date analysis, Cross-tabulation, t-test and binary logistical regression were performed by using SPSS 20.0. Results First, in the distribution of gender, high school type, father s education, household income, university type, and university location according to the intention of dropout, female students were more related to the academic sustainability type than male students. Second, for variables of high school period, there was a significant difference in the intention of dropout in in mental health, school satisfaction and teacher relationship adjustment. In the variables of university stage, there was a significant difference in the intention of dropout in university satisfaction, curriculum satisfaction, faculty satisfaction, education service satisfaction, career support satisfaction, and major buoyant. Third, the relative influence of the related variables on the intention to drop out was in the order of the satisfaction of education service, gender, mental health, curriculum satisfaction, major self-esteem, career support satisfaction, university satisfaction, and major self-esteem. Conclusions These results suggest that the approach to individual and social environmental factors and complex factors of high school and university should be sought to prevent dropout of freshmen in college.
