국문 초록

이 논문의 연구목적은 상징적 상호작용 이론과 방법론에 대해 살펴봄으로써 인문학과 사회과학의 연계 가능성을 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 관련 연구 문헌들을 인용하고 일부 사례를 예시하는 방식으로 논의를 전개하였다. 인문학과 사회과학은 별개의 영역이 아니라 상호 연관된 학문 분야라는 점을 강조하였다. 인문학의 요소와 사회과학의 요소를 포함하고 있는 상징적 상호작용 이론과 방법론은 두 학문의 연계를 통한 융복합 학문에 유용할 것이다. 상징적 상호작용 방법론을 융복합 연구에 적용한 학제적 연구 사례 및 외국 대학의 편제상 연계 사례를 소개하였다. 참여와 관찰, 참가자와의 소통, 텍스트 분석 등 질적 연구 방법론을 이용한 사회현상의 이해 및 문제 진단은 인문학과 사회과학의 연계를 통해 가능하다. 시대와 사회가 고등교육에 요청하는 융복합 학문을 위해 상징적 상호작용 이론이 유용할 수 있는데, 상징을 통해 상호작용하는 과정에서 자아를 형성하고, 공동체 의식을 함양하기 위해 인간을 중심에 두고 현장 경험을 강조하기 때문이다. 이를 토대로 인간의 상상력과 논리적 추론 능력을 이용하여 인간과 사회의 관계는 물론이고 인간, 사회, 자연의 통합적 이해를 위한 융복합 학문이 가능할 것이다.

영문 초록

The research purpose of this paper is to explore the possibility of the linkage between humanities and social sciences by looking at a symbolic interaction theory and methodology. To this end, the discussion was conducted by quoting relevant research literature and illustrating some cases. It emphasized that humanities and social sciences are not separate areas, but interrelated disciplines. Symbolic interaction theory and methodology, which includes elements of humanities and social sciences, will be useful in interdisciplinary studies through the linkage of the two academic areas. In addition, cases of the application of the symbolic interaction methodology to interdisciplinary study and institutional combinations of two areas at foreign universities were presented. Understanding social phenomena and diagnosing problems using qualitative research methodologies, such as participation and observation, communication with participants, and textual analysis are possible through links between humanities and social sciences. The symbolic interaction theory can be useful for trans-disciplinary studies in Higher Education, because in the process of interacting through symbols, we put humans at the center and emphasize field experience to foster a sense of community. Based on this, tertiary education and academic research will be possible not only for the relationship between man and society, but also for the integrated understanding of humans, society, and nature, using the imagination and logical reasoning skills that only humans have.
