국문 초록

서정주는 시의 창작적인 측면에서는 독자적인 경지와 고유의 세계를 구축하였지만 시론에서는 본격적인 체계를 갖추어 논리적으로 서술된 것이 아니라 일반적인 작품 소개와 추상적인 개념 해설에 그치는 경우가 많아 활발한 연구의 대상이 되지 못했다. 하지만 시인의 감각을 활용해 서술한 여러 논의들을 살펴보면 그의 시에 대한 이론적인 전망을 발견할 수 있고 독특한 세계관도 유추할 수 있어 가치가 충분하다. 세계와 갈등 없이 영원한 조화와 화해를 절대적으로 지향하는 서정주는 주체의 자각과 정립을 통해 이를 상호주관적으로 성취하고자 한 것이 아니라 손쉽게 타자의 질서에 순응하고 그 중심의 논리에 주체를 환원시킴으로써 이 경지에 도달하려고 하였다. 이러한 양상은 이 연구의 분석 대상인 『서정주문학전집』 제2권에서도 잘 드러나 있다. 그는 특별한 기제 없이 ‘추상성과 관념성’을 ‘구체성과 감각성’에 종합하고 조화시키려 하거나 동양적인 ‘전정신’과 ‘신명’의 정신이라는 추상적 이데올로기로 세계와의 갈등과 모순을 안이하게 해결하려고 하였다. 그 결과로 미당은 공동체의 목표를 위해 개인이 일방적으로 복종해야 한다는 일제의 전체주의적 논리를 거부감 없이 내면화하고 이를 자신의 시론으로 삼는 결정적인 실수를 범하였다.

영문 초록

Although Seo Jeongju has established a poetic world of creativity in his literary aspect, his poetic theory often stays at the level of fragmentary commentary and common sense rather than logically described with a system of full-scale theories. However, if we look at the various discussions that have been made using his sense, it is valuable to be able to discover the theoretical perspective of his poetry and to be able to deduce his unique poem world. Seo Jeongju absolutely wanted to have eternal harmony and reconciliation without conflict between himself and the outside world. However he did not obtain equal harmony and reconciliation through his subjective awareness, but conformed to the order of the outside world and left himself unilaterally to the logic. This aspect is also evident in the Collection of the literature of Seo jeongju , which is the subject of this study. He tried to synthesize and harmonize abstractity and ideality with concreteness and sensibility without any special conceptual principle or mechanism. Or he tried to solve conflicts and contradictions easily with the world by the abstract ideology of the spirit of oriental Whole Spirit and Shin-myung . As a result, he made the mistake of accepting the totalitarian logic of Japanese imperialism that the individual should unilaterally obey the group for the purpose of community.
