국문 초록

지금까지 자유학기제와 관련하여 여타 실천적인 논의는 진행되었으나 철학적 기조에 대한 논의가 충분히 이루어지지 않았다. 교육과정의 기반이 되는 교육철학은 교육과정을 운영하는 과정에서 예상치 못하게 발생하는 문제점과 변수들에 대해 일관된 해결방향을 제시해준다. 이에 본 연구에서는 자유학기제와 실존주의 철학이 지니는 연관성과 차이점을 중심으로 자유학기제의 기저 철학이 실존주의가 될 수 있을지에 대한 가능성을 탐색해보았다. 연구결과, 자유학기제는 정책 기조, 정의, 교육 목표, 교육과정 등에서 실존주의 철학과 많은 유사점이 발견되었다. 이에 반해, 실제 교육구현양상에서는 다소간 차이를 보이고 있었다. 결론적으로 자유학기제 정책과 실존주의 철학은 온전히 일치한다고 결론지을 수는 없었다. 하지만 자유학기제의 기본 틀이 실존주의 철학과 많은 유사점을 보이고 있다는 점을 볼 때 실존주의 철학이 교육에 대해 제시하는 제안들이 자유학기제에 줄 수 있는 시사점이 상당히 많다는 점이 확인되었다.

영문 초록

The Free Learning Semester hasn t discussed about it s educational philosophy even though it will be introduced to the all of the Korean middle school in this year. The philosophy of curriculum provides consistent guideline to solve unexpected problems which are caused during the curriculum operating. Therefore, If we successfully discuss about the philosophical base of the Free Learning Semester, then, we can expect that curriculum philosophy of the Free Learning Semester will provide the Free Learning Semester policy the achieving of educational purpose and helping the excellent curriculum operating. So this study researched central aim of the Free Learning Semester and investigated the view of human and education in the philosophy of existentialism. And this study explored whether the philosophy of existentialism could be the educational philosophy of the Free Learning Semester through analyzing the relationship between the philosophy of existentialism and the Free Learning Semester. The study result shows that keynote of the Free Learning Semester policy, definition, educational purpose and curriculum are similar with the philosophy of existentialism. But there are some gap in aspect of practice. So we can not conclude the philosophy of existentialism affected to the Free Learning Semester policy. And we can judge there are some problem with presuming the philosophy of existentialism a foundational philosophy for the Free Learning Semester policy. But the fact that basic frame of the Free Learning Semester is similar with the philosophy of existentialism informs us that the philosophy of existentialism can provide several important implication to the Free Learning Semester.
