국문 초록

본 연구는 내현적 자기애가 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향을 무조건적 자기수용과 청소년기 불안이 매개하는가를 검증하기 위한 연구이다. 연구를 위해 D시 인근의 중·고등학교 학생들에게 내현적 자기애 척도, 학교생활적응 척도, 무조건적 자기수용 척도, 청소년기 불안 척도를 실시하여, 총 518명의 자료를 상관분석, 구조 방정식 모형 검증을 통해 분석하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 내현적 자기애는 학교생활적응과 무조건적 자기수용에 부정적인 영향을 미치며, 청소년기 불안에는 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 내현적 자기애가 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향을 무조건적 자기수용과 청소년기 불안이 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 내현적 자기애가 학교생활적응에 직접적인 영향을 주기도 하지만 무조건적 자기수용과 청소년기 불안을 통해 간접적으로 학교생활에 적응에 영향을 미친다는 것을 보여준다. 따라서 청소년의 학교생활적응을 돕기 위해서는 무조건적 자기수용을 증진시키고 청소년기 불안에 잘 대처할 수 있도록 돕는 상담 및 교육적 개입이 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로 연구의 의의 및 제한점, 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating influence of unconditional self-acceptance and adolescent anxiety on the relationship between covert narcissism and school adjustment. Participants were 518 students attending the middle and high schools near a mid size city in Korea. A multi-section inventory including the Cover Narcissism Scale(CNS), the School Adjustment Scale, the Unconditional Self-acceptance Scale, and the Adolescent Anxiety Scale(SCARED) was conducted. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis and Structural Equation Modeling. Results indicated the followings: First, covert narcissism had negative influence on school adjustment and unconditional self-acceptance, while having positive influence on adolescent anxiety. Second, both unconditional self-acceptance and adolescent anxiety partially mediated the association between covert narcissism and school adjustment. These results demonstrate that, while adolescent convert narcissism has a direct influence on school adjustment, it also has an indirect influence on school adjustment through unconditional self-acceptance and anxiety. The implication of the study is that adolescent unconditional self-acceptance and anxiety may be critical to decrease the influence of covert narcissism on school adjustment of adolescents, and therefore, counseling and education program may need to focus on these two factors to promote adolescent school adjustment. Limitations and suggestions were discussed.
