국문 초록

한국의 대중음악 발전에 관한 연구와 보고서에 의하면 한류의 중심인 K-POP의 발생과 발전은 획일적 모방이 중심이 되어 왔으며 지속 발전을 위한 방안으로 다양한 음악 콘텐츠의 개발과 융합이 필요하다고 역설하고 있다. 이 논문은 융합성과 독창성을 갖춘 한국 대중음악 콘텐츠의 개발과 발전을 위해 어느 세계사에서도 찾아 볼 수 없는 강력한 문화적 혼존성으로 인해 한국뿐만 아니라 전 세계의 대중음악을 지배하고 있는 아메리카 대중음악의 발생과 발전에 관해 연구 하였고 융합성과 배타성이라는 두 가지 관점에서 접근하였다. 이 연구는 미국 대중음악의 발생과 발전을 역사적 관점을 통해 분석 하였으며 1920년대 이후 대중음악의 큰 성장에 영향을 끼친 요소로 산업혁명과 노예 해방으로 인한 도시화, 레코딩 기술의 개발, 라디오의 발명, 빌보드 잡지의 탄생, 음반 산업의 활성화를 제시하였다. 아메리카의 대중음악을 연구한다는 것은 단순 한 지역의 음악을 연구하는 것의 의미를 넘어 지금의 대중음악이 어떻게 융합성과 독창성을 갖게 되었고 위대한 발전을 이룰 수 있었는지에 대한 연구이며 이것을 통해 한국의 대중음악의 발전 방안을 제시하는 것에 중요한 기초연구자료가 될 수 있다.

영문 초록

According to studies and reports on Korean popular music development, K-POP, the center of the Korean wave, has emerged and developed centering around uniform imitation, and they argue that for sustainable development, there is a need to develop a variety of music contents and to blend them. For development and advancement of Korean popular music contents with convergence and originality, this paper studied the emergence and the development of American popular music, which rules popular music of the whole world including Korea, for its strong cultural co-existence that is unprecedented in the world history, and approached, from two perspectives: convergence and incompatibility. In this study, the emergence and the development of American popular music was analyzed, from a historical viewpoint, and the urbanization caused by the Industrial Revolution and the Emancipation of Slaves, the development of recording technology, the invention of radio, the birth of Bill Board Magazine, and the activation of the recording industry were suggested as factors that have highly influenced the the growth of popular music after the 1920s. Studying American popular music is to see how current popular music obtained convergence and originality and how it achieved great development, in addition to merely understanding music of one specific area, and this data can serve as important, basic research to seek Korean popular music development plans.
