근대적 시간관과 사실적 사변의 만남: 헤겔 역사철학의 위상

국문 초록

헤겔의 역사철학은 근대적 시간관과 사실적 사변의 만남을 시도하면서 근대적 시간의식으로서 개별적 시간성에 기초를 둔 주관성에 대한 확신을 통해서 하나의 보편사로서 근대의 지배 담론이 될 수 있었다. 헤겔의 의하면, 인간은 자유를 생각하면서 결코 자신의 개별성 또는 개별적 자기의식으로부터가 아니라 오직 자기의식의 본질로부터 출발해야 하고, 인간이 그것을 알거나 모르거나 간에 그러한 자기의식의 본질은 독자적인 힘으로서 스스로를 실현해 가는 것이다. 또한 그러한 힘 속에서 개별자로서의 개인은 한낱 계기에 지나지 않는 존재이지만, 그 계기들을 정당화하는 전체와의 유기적 결합 속에서 계기로서의 존재 의미를 확인하는 유한한 개별자로서의 윤리적 확립을 이루어가는 것이다. 이러한 윤리적 확립이 분열되고 소외된 공동체로부터 진정한 공동체로 나아가려는 현재의 우리가 헤겔 역사철학에서 찾을 수 있는 새로운 가능성이라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 모든 것이 불확실하고 회의의 대상으로 전락해 가는 이 시대에, 헤겔의 역사철학은 시간과 의식의 통일을 이성적으로 정초하기 위한 새로운 보편적 사유로 소환되고 있다.

영문 초록

By trying to encounter modern temporality and factual cogitation, Hegel s philosophy of history brings to light that the confidence of the subjectivity can be the dominant discourse of modernity as universal history, while being based on individual temporality as a modern consciousness of time. According to him, human being should start from the essence of self-consciousness, not our own individuality or individual self-consciousness. Such an essence of self-consciousness is to realize oneself as an independent force whether humans know it or not. In this power, individuals as individuals are existence that are only a moment. In the end, a new possibility that we can make out in the Hegel’s philosophy of history for moving from a divided and alienated community into a true community may be found in the ethical establishment of a finite individual who confirms the meaning of existence as an instrument in the organic combination with the whole that are justifying those moments, while being only a moment. Accordingly, in this era when everything is uncertain and subject to skeptic, Hegel s philosophy of history is being summoned as a new universal thought for rationalizing the unity of time and consciousness.
