토픽 모델링을 활용한 학생부종합전형 평가 기준 타당성 분석

국문 초록

목적 본 연구의 목적은 컴퓨터공학계열로 진학을 희망하는 지원자의 학교생활기록부에 대해 토픽 모델링을 활용해 학생부종합전형 평가 기준의 적절성을 분석하는 것에 있다. 방법 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해, Y대학교 컴퓨터공학계열 A학과에 학생부종합전형으로 지원한 217명의 학교생활기록부에 분석 자료로 활용하였다. 구체적으로 살펴보면 첫째, 지원자의 학교생활기록부 기재 영역에 나타난 주요 키워드(TF, DF, TF-IDF)를 분석하였다. 둘째, BERTopic 기반의 토픽 모델링을 활용해 학교생활기록부 기재 영역에 나타난 주요 주제를 탐색하였다. 셋째, 주요 키워드 및 토픽 분석에 있어서, 지원자 상위 10%인 최상위권 지원자를 전체 학생과 비교 분석하였다. 끝으로, 최상위권 지원자의 학교생활기록부 토픽을 활용해 컴퓨터공학계열 A학과의 평가 기준과 비교하여 상호 특징을 살펴보았다. 결과 본 연구의 결과를 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지원자 학교생활기록부에는 활동, 자신, 수업, 문제, 발표 등의 키워드들이 높은 빈도를 보였다. 둘째, 컴퓨터공학계열 A학과 지원자의 학교생활기록부로부터 도출한 토픽은 진로(일반, 독서), 공동체, 교육, 예체능(음악, 미술, 체육), 수학, 영어, 과학(물리, 화학, 생물, 지구, 기타), 사회(정치·경제, 역사·지리), 컴퓨터(HW, SW, 첨단, 보안·기타) 및 기타의 21개였다. 셋째, 최상위권 지원자와 전체 학생과의 주요 차이를 살펴보면, 최상위권 지원자의 학교생활기록부에서는 ‘컴퓨터(첨단)(인공지능, 데이터 등)’, ‘영어(영어, 어휘 등)’, ‘공동체(모둠, 활동 등)’, ‘예체능(미술, 작품 등)’ 토픽의 비율이 높게 나타났다. 끝으로, 최상위권 지원자의 토픽과 A학과 평가 기준과의 비교 결과 전체적으로 매칭이 잘 되고 있었으나 평가 기준 중 과학 관련 토픽은 최상위권 지원자에게서 확인되지는 않았다. 결론 본 연구를 통하여 컴퓨터공학계열 지원자의 학교생활기록부에 나타난 특징을 살펴볼 수 있었으며, 학생부종합전형 평가 기준인 인재상과의 비교 분석을 통해 학생부종합전형 평가 기준의 타당성에 대한 시사점을 도출할 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과와 시사점이 향후 학생부종합전형에 대한 지속적인 점검과 보완을 위한 대안적인 방법이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study was conducted to analyse the appropriateness of evaluation criteria for the University Admission Officer System by using Topic Modeling to Student’s School Cumulative Record. Methods For this purpose, The school cumulative records of 217 students who applied to the computer engineering department A through the University Admission Officer System in September 2022 were analyzed after de-identifying personal information and removing prohibitions on school cumulative records. In order to continue this study, first, the main keywords (TF, DF, TF-IDF) that appeared in the fields of the applicants' school cumulative records were analyzed. Second, the main topics in the school cumulative records were explored using BERTopic topic modeling. Third, the top applicants(the top 10% of applicants) were compared to all applicants in the analysis of keywords and topics. Finally, the topics of the top applicants' school cumulative records were used to examine their mutual characteristics compared to the evaluation criteria of the computer engineering department A. Results The results of this study are as follows. First, the keywords such as activity, self, class, problem, and presentation were highly frequent in the applicants' school cumulative records. Second, 21 topics were identified from the computer engineering department A applicants' school cumulative records: career (general, reading), community, education, arts (music, art, physical education), Mathematics, English, science subjects (physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, other), social subjects (politics&economics, history&geography), computer (HW, SW, Advanced, security&other), and other. Third, looking at the main differences between the top applicants and all applicants, the top applicants had a higher proportion of computer (Advanced) (Artificial Intelligence, Data, etc.), English (English, Vocabulary, etc.), Community (Group, Activities, etc.), and arts (Art, Artifacts, etc.) topics in their school cumulative records. Finally, comparing the top applicants' topics with evaluation criteria of the computer engineering department A showed a good match overall, but the science-related topics were not found among the top applicants. Conclusions Through this study, the characteristics of Computer Engineering Applicants' school cumulative records were identified, and the effectiveness of the evaluation criteria could be checked. It is expected that the results and implications of this study can serve as an alternative way to continuously check and supplement of the University Admission Officer System.
