K교사의 교육 연극 수업에 대한 비평적 고찰

국문 초록

본 논문은 2010년 창의적 수업 사례 공모전에서 초등교육 분야에서 대상을 수상한 K교사의 교육 연극 수업을 ‘배움의 공동체’를 꿈꾸는 B교사의 관점에서 비평한 것이다. 좀 더 구체적으로 말하면, B교사의 관점에서 보았을 때, K교사의 교육 연극 수업이 ‘좋은 수업인지’, ‘학생 중심의 수업을 하는지’, ‘진정한 배움이 학생 속에서 일어나고 있는지’를 탐색해 본 것이다. 그 결과, K교사의 교육 연극 수업은 학생이 아닌 교사 중심으로 문학 작품 분석과 감상 활동이 이루어지고 있었으며, 교사의 권위와 영향력에 비해 배역 선택권과 결정권이 없는 순종적인 학생이 돋보였고, 교육 연극 기법을 이용하여 수업을 설계하고 실행하는 K교사의 능력이 돋보인 반면, 학생의 목소리를 존중하고 반영하는 면이 약하였으며, 교사의 통제로 길들여진 학생들의 몇몇 모습을 엿볼 수 있었다. 교육 연극 기법은 학생들로 하여금 이해 활동과 표현 활동에 적극 참여하게 하고 협력하게 하며, 학생들 스스로 배움을 가능하게 하며, 어떠한 배움이 실제로 일어나고 있는지를 교사로 하여금 엿보게 해 주는 방법이다. 하지만 K교사의 교육 연극 수업은 ‘과정 중심의 배움’과 ‘학생 중심의 배움’보다는 K교사의 의욕과 열정 및 교육 연극 기법 실행 능력이 더 돋보이는 수업이라고 결론을 내리게 되었다.

영문 초록

This article is a critical review on K teacher s educational drama class which was awarded the grand prize in the elementary education sector in the years of creative teaching practices Contest 2010. It is a criticism from the standpoint of B teacher who are dreaming of a community of learning. B teacher posed following questions about the K teacher s educational drama class. Is this good teaching lesson? Is this student-centered classroom? Does a true learning occurs in this class? Conclusions are as follows. K teacher s class was not a student-centered but a teacher-center. This class was a strong influence and authority of the teacher and students were obedient. Students have no choice determines rights and privileges of casting. The teacher was excellent ability to design and execute the instruction and was using educational drama techniques well educated. But the teacher was not well respected voices of the students. And appearance of students were accustomed to the control of the teacher. Education drama techniques can have many advantages. This method are very good tools for students to understand and express literatures and to learn on their own. Moreover teachers can see processes of students learning. Unfortunately, this class was not a process-centered learning and student-centered learning, but a real passion of remarkable teachers and a remarkable technique and execution capabilities of teachers.
