이주민과 정주민 관점에서 본 지역사회 중심 미술교육 경험의 의미

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 다큐멘터리 영화 ‘그림 그리는 해녀’를 통해서 과거 힘든 삶을 이겨 내온 제주의 ‘해녀’와 해녀들의 삶을 이해하고자 했던 ‘문화 이주민’ 각자의 관점에서 제주 지역사회 중심 미술교육 경험이 어떤 의미를 지니며 어떤 역할을 할 수 있었는지를 밝히고자 하였다. 방법 먼저 제주 지역의 사회문제인 이주민의 증감에 따른 지역 갈등 문제를 살펴보고, 이러한 지역사회의 다양한 문제의 해결에 실천적 방법을 제시하는 지역사회 중심 미술교육의 다양한 담론을 고찰하였다. 또한 제주의 전통적 공동체인 해녀를 대상으로 지역사회 중심 미술교육을 기획하고 실천한 문화 이민자를 연구대상으로 선정하여 심층면담을 진행하고 다큐멘터리 영화 ‘그림 그리는 해녀’의 등장인물 내러티브를 분석했다. 결과 영화 속 내러티브 분석과 기획자 면담 내용을 바탕으로 미술 배움 과정의 과거, 오늘, 내일의 나로서의 측면과 미술 배움 이후의 학습을 하는 존재 그리고 지역사회 구성원으로서의 존재인 측면으로 나누어 그 경험의 본질과 의미를 고찰할 수 있었다. 결론 ‘그림 그리는 해녀’ 프로그램은 문화 이주민과 해녀가 주체가 되어 일상의 장소에서 익숙한 주제와 방식으로 교육이 이루어졌다는 점에서 지역사회 중심 미술교육으로서 가치를 지니고 있음을 밝힐 수 있었다. 해녀들은 미술교육을 통해 과거 속 ‘나’를 만나 오늘의 ‘나’에 소중함을 알게 되었고 내일의 ‘나’ 역시 지역사회와 긍정적 관계를 맺고자 함을 확인할 수 있었다. 문화 이주민은 제주 지역사회와의 융화를 자만했던 과거에 대해 반성하게 되었으며 해녀의 삶에 대한 이해와 존경으로 이어짐을 밝힐 수 있었다. 마지막으로 지역사회 중심 미술교육의 경험은 구성원들의 신뢰를 구축하는 계기가 될 수 있음을 확인 할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study analyzes the documentary film ‘story of haenyeo’. thereby Understanding the ‘haenyeo’ who were the marginalized class of Jeju in the past and led Jeju’s difficult times. In addition, the meaning of Jeju s community-centered art education experience and what role it could play were examined. Methods First, the problem of regional conflicts due to the increase or decrease of migrants, a social problem in Jeju, was investigated. second, various discourses of community-centered art education that suggest practical methods for solving various problems in the local community were considered. third, in-depth interviews were conducted with cultural immigrants who planned and practiced community-centered art education for haenyeo, a traditional community of Jeju, as research subjects. last, We analyzed the character narratives of the documentary film ‘story of haenyeo’. Results Based on the narrative analysis in the film and the interview with the planner, In the course of art learning, the aspects of the past, today, and tomorrow of me and It was possible to examine the essence and meaning of the experience by dividing it into the aspect of being learning after art learning and being a member of the local community. Conclusions The ‘Painting Haenyeo’ program had value as a community-oriented art education in that village migrants and haenyeo were the main actors and the education was conducted in a familiar theme and method in their daily places. Through art education, the haenyeo met with the past me and learned the importance of today s me, and through tomorrow s me, they were able to confirm their positive hope with the local community and their will to volunteer. On the other hand, it was found that cultural migrants reflected on their past thoughts that were conceited that the integration into the Jeju community was sufficiently surmountable and led to understanding and respect for the lives of haenyeo.
