COVID-19로 인한 온라인 학습에서 의대생의 자기효능감과 인지된 학업성취 및 만족도와의 관계에서 인지부하의 매개효과

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 COVID-19로 인한 온라인 학습에서 의대생의 자기효능감, 세 가지 인지부하, 인지된 학업성취 및 학습자 만족도 간의 관계와 자기효능감과 인지된 학업성취 및 학습자 만족도와의 관계에서 세 가지 인지부하의 매개효과를 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 방법 본 연구는 한 의과대학 의예과 1, 2 학년 학생 총 102명을 대상으로 설문조사를 통해 실시되었다. 설문은 성별, 학년, 나이를 묻는 질문과 자기효능감, 인지부하, 인지된 학업성취 및 학습자 만족도에 대한 문항을 합쳐 총 30문항으로 구성되었다. 설문조사는 약 2주간 학습자의 스마트폰을 활용하여 실시되었고, 수집된 설문자료는 상관분석과 PROCESS macro를 활용한 매개효과 검증을 통해 분석되었다. 결과 연구결과에 의하면 자기효능감은 본유적 인지부하, 인지된 학업성취 및 학습자 만족도와 유의한 정적상관을 드러냈고, 외재적 인지부하와는 유의한 부적상관을 드러냈다. 하지만, 내재적 인지부하와는 유의한 관계가 드러나지 않았다. 내재적 인지부하는 외재적 인지부하와만 유의한 정적상관을 드러냈고, 외재적 인지부하는 본유적 인지부하, 인지된 학업성취 및 만족도와 유의한 부적상관을 드러냈다. 본유적 인지부하는 인지된 학업성취 및 학습자 만족도와 유의한 정적상관을 나타냈다. 자기효능감과 인지된 학업성취 및 학습자 만족도 간의 관계에서 본유적, 외재적 인지부하가 각각 부분매개, 그리고 완전 매개하는 것으로 드러났다. 매개효과의 크기는 본유적 인지부하가 외재적 인지부하보다 유의미하게 큰 것으로 드러났다. 결론 본 연구의 결과는 온라인 학습환경에서 비효율적인 교수설계나 어려운 과제보다 높은 수준의 자기효능감으로 인한 학습자의 본유적 인지부하의 투입이 학습결과에 미치는 효과가 훨씬 크므로, 성공적인 온라인 학습을 위해서는 학습자의 자기효능감을 증진시키기 위한 노력이 우선시됨을 보여준다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study examined the relationship among medical students’ self-efficacy, three cognitive loads, and perceived learning achievement and student satisfaction, and the mediating effects of three cognitive loads in the relationship between self-efficacy and perceived learning achievement, or student satisfaction in online learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods A cross sectional study was conduced through a survey targeting a total of 102 students enrolled in the first-and second-year premedical curriculum in a medical school. The questionnaire consisted of a total of 30 questions, including items about gender, grade, age, self-efficacy, cognitive load, perceived learning achievement and learner satisfaction. The survey was conducted using each student’s smart-phone for two weeks and the collected data were analyzed using Pearson correlation analyses and PROCESS macro. Results According to the results, self-efficacy had positive correlations with germane cognitive load, perceived learning achievement, and student satisfaction, and a negative correlation with extrinsic cognitive load, but no significant relationship with intrinsic cognitive load. Intrinsic cognitive load showed a positive correlation only with extrinsic cognitive load, and extrinsic cognitive load revealed negative correlations with germane cognitive load, perceived learning achievement and student satisfaction. Germane cognitive load showed significant positive correlations with perceived learning achievement and student satisfaction. Germane and extrinsic cognitive loads were found to partially or fully mediate the relationship between self-efficacy and perceived learning achievement, or student satisfaction, respectively. The magnitude of the mediating effect was found to be significantly larger in germane cognitive load than in extrinsic cognitive load. Conclusions The results of this study indicated that, rather than inefficient instructional design or difficult tasks, self-efficacy have more impact on learning outcome in online learning contexts, so the efforts to improve learners self-efficacy need to be prioritized for successful online learning.
