시각적 지원을 적용한 음악교육 방안

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 음악교육에서 악보 읽기의 부족함으로 인하여 기악 활동의 어려움으로 이어지는 것을 개선하고자 시각적 지원으로 악보 읽기와 기악 활동을 동시에 연결하는 교육 방안 제시를 목적으로 한다. 방법 이를 위해 시각적 그루핑 방법을 결합한 교육 방안을 제시하고자 문헌 연구를 통해 시각적 지원, 시각적 인식 및 커뮤니케이션 관련 연구를 중심으로 고찰하였고, 시각적 그루핑으로 반영 가능한 악보와 악기의 특징을 살펴보았다. 결과 악보 읽기와 악기 운지 연결의 어려움을 극복하기 위한 방안으로 현악기의 4개 현을 악보의 오선 형식에 시각적으로 연결하고 음의 높낮이를 반영하여 4개의 지리적 영역으로 나누어 세부 운지 위치를 지역별 거주 양상에 따라 동물들이 서식하는 것으로 표현하였다. 아울러 시각적 그루핑 원리를 적용한 실질적인 악보를 제시하고 악기를 연결하여 현장에서 적용 가능한 방안을 제안하였다. 결론 이러한 시각적 지원의 응용 방안은 악보 읽기와 기악 활동에 어려움이 있는 학습자에게 또 하나의 대안으로써 도움이 될 수 있을 것이며 이를 토대로 새로운 음악교육 방안의 기초 자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to suggest a learning method which uses visual support to connect music reading with instrument learning in a concurrent process to address the difficulties often encountered by learners of musical instruments due to lack of music reading abilities. Methods To this end, this paper examines visual support methods and visual perception and communication theories through literature review to formulate a suggested learning method adapting visual grouping strategies that reflect the characteristics of staff notation and string instruments. Results As a way to overcome the difficulties with pitch identification and fingering locations in music reading and string instrument learning, a method using visual grouping principles and visual support elements to visually connect and represent the five-line based musical staff notation format with the four strings of a string instrument is suggested. In it, the staff notation is divided into four geographical areas of low to high altitude representing the low to high musical pitch areas of each of the four strings, and each of the areas are inhabited by animals that normally reside in such areas, with each animal representing the musical note as well as the location of the string instrument’s fingering position. Conclusions Such application of visual support would be helpful as an alternative learning method for learners who have difficulties in learning to read music and to also learn musical instruments, and thus the overall educational value of this result would be in providing basic data for new alternative teaching methods.
