웹툰 바리공주 에 수용된 <콩쥐팥쥐> 이야기

국문 초록

김나임의 웹툰 바리공주 는 서사무가 <바리공주>의 주인공인 바리공주와 무장승을 서술자로 하여 각 에피소드의 주인공이 겪는 사건을 해결해 주는 이야기 구조를 띠고 있다. 본고에서 주목한 것은 개별 에피소드인데, 고소설 <콩쥐팥쥐전>을 소재로 한 <콩쥐팥쥐>이다. 고소설과 웹툰을 비교함으로써 웹툰 <콩쥐팥쥐>의 현재적 의미를 찾아보고자 한 것이다. 그 결과 웹툰은 소설을 소재로 하고 있으나 중심 갈등 구조가 계모 갈등에서 고부 갈등으로 변화되었으며, 이 갈등 전개에서 새로운 인물 관계가 설정되었고, 새로운 악인형 인물이 만들어졌음을 알수 있다. 계모 갈등에 의한 박해가 아닌 고부 갈등에 의한 자매의 고난이 중심 서사로 변했기 때문에 이복 자매는 친자매로 바뀌었고, 악인형 인물은 가부장 아버지가 설정되었다. 가족 간의 문제를 해결하지 못하는 무능한 아버지와 부인의 정체를 알아보지 못하는 남편은 무능한 남성을 상징하는 인물로 재창조되었다. 그 결과 이야기의주제도 무능한 남성으로 인해 희생당하는 여성으로 바뀐 것이다. 원작이 가진 대중성을 바탕으로 현대 사회에 맞추어 변용된 웹툰 <콩쥐팥쥐>는 옛이야기가 과거에 멈추어 있는 것이 아니라 꾸준히 현대와의 교감을 통해 발전하는 유동적 가치를 지니고 있음을 보여준다.

영문 초록

Kim Na-Im’s webtoon Princess Bari has the story structure in which the main characters ofnarrative shamanistic myth like Princess Bari and Mujangseung as its narratorssolve each case experienced by the main characters of each episode. This thesis pays attentionto an individual episode called based on a classical novel . This thesis aims to find the meanings of webtoon in thepresent, by comparing the classical novel and webtoon. As a result, even though the webtoonwas based on the novel, the central conflict structure was changed from conflict with stepmotherto conflict between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. In the development of this conflict, a newcharacter relation was established, and a new villain-type character was created. Instead of thepersecution by conflict with stepmother, the hardship of sisters caused by conflict betweenmother-in-law and daughter-in-law became the central narrative, so the half sisters were changedto full sisters, and the patriarchal father was set up as a villain-type character. The incompetentfather who could not solve family problems, and the husband who could not recognize thewife’s identity were recreated as a character symbolizing an incompetent man. As a result, thetheme of the story was changed to a woman sacrificed by an incompetent man. The webtoon transformed suitable for modern society based on the popularity of theoriginal, shows that the old stories do not just stay in the past, but have the flexible value thatcould be developed through continuous communion with modern times.
