국문 초록

본고는 ‘분단/통일’문제를 다룬 오태영의 작품들을 연구 대상으로 한다. 구체적으로 <통일 익스프레스>(1998),<돼지비계>(2000), <불타는 소파>(2001), <콩가루>(2002) 등이다. 연구의 중점은 이 작품들의 재현 전략과 그 의미이다. 구체적인 연구주제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 작품의 구조상의 특징이다. 연구 대상작들은 대개 ‘이중적인 구조’를 지니고 있다. 그것은 ‘우스꽝스러운 겉’과 ‘진지한 속’이라는 형식으로 나뉜다. 이는 이들 희곡들이 보여주는중요한 재현 전략 가운데 하나이다. 둘째, 폭발적으로 드러나는 ‘육체언어’이다. 이를 그의 작품들에서 숨겨진 ‘담론의 진실’을 드러내려는 재현 전략이라고 보았다. 육체언어는 이성의 차원에서 차분히 설명하고, 설득하려는 의도를 갖지 않는다. 대신 정곡을 찌르는 일격으로 기성 질서의 세계가 요구하는 이성적 담론의 무용함을 드러내는 가장 효과적인 전략이다. 그의 이런 재현 전략들은 재현 불가능성을 우회하기 위한 방법적 선택이었다. 동시에 당대 사조상의 변화상과연동되어 있기도 하다. 그러나 오태영의 재현 전략은 종종 ‘팸플릿의 언어들’과 뒤섞임으로써 스스로의 한계를 노정한다는 비판도 가능하다. 본 연구가 관련 연구에 하나의 방법적 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on Oh Tae-young’s plays that dealt with the issue of division/unification. Specifically, (1998), (2000), (2001), (2002) etc. The focus of the study is the representational strategy and its meaning of these plays. Specific research topics are as follows. First, the structural characteristics of the work. Target works usually have a ‘dual structure’. The grand prize works are divided into the form of ‘a funny face’ and a ‘serious inside’. This isone of the important representational strategies shown in these plays. Second, ‘Sub language’ is revealed explosively. This is a representation strategy to reveal the‘truth of discourse’ hidden in his works. ‘Sub language’ calmly explains at the level of reasonand does not intend to persuade. Instead, it is the most effective strategy to reveal the futility ofrational discourse demanded by the world of established order with a piercing blow. His representational strategies were a methodical choice to circumvent the impossibility ofrepresentation. At the same time, it is also linked with the changing image of the contemporarythought. However, it is also possible to criticize Oh Tae-young’s representational strategy for exposingits own limitations by often mixing it with the ‘languages of pamphlets’. It is expected that this study can provide a methodological implication for related studies.
