미당 서정주의 ‘옛이야기’ 중 삼국유사(三國遺事) 소재 설화를 재구성한 텍스트의 특징과 문학 교육적 활용 방안

국문 초록

이 연구는 『미당 서정주 전집』 (2017) 16-17권에 수록되어 있는 ‘옛이야기’ 중 『삼국유사(三國遺事)』 소재 설화를 재구성한 텍스트의 내용 형식적 특징을 파악해 보고, 이러한 특징을 지닌 텍스트들이 문학 교육에서 어떻게 활용될 수 있을지 논의해 보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 추출된 총 6편의 자료들을 내용분석법을 활용하여 정리하였더니, 내용적 측면에서 2가지, 형식적 측면에서 2가지의 특징이 도출되었다. 먼저 내용적 특징으로는 첫째, 미당은 『삼국유사(三國遺事)』 소재 설화를 재구성하면서, 행간을 자신의 상상력 공간으로 활용하여 원작을 설명해 주기도 하고, 새로운 이야기를 덧붙이기도 하면서, 개연성을 덧붙인, 자신만의 ‘옛이야기’로 재탄생시켰다. 둘째, 미당은 『삼국유사(三國遺事)』 에 수록된 설화를 재구성한 ‘옛이야기’의 작자로서, 원텍스트에 대한 자신의 의견을 간간이 삽입하는 서평자의 모습을 보이기도 했다. 또한 형식적 특징으로는 첫째, 주요 독자로 상정한 아동을 고려하여 전체 구어체로 작성하였고, 의성어와 의태어 사용, 생동감 있는 묘사 등의 문체를 사용하였다. 둘째, 필요에 따라 순수 질문과 수사적 질문을 적재적소에 활용하여, 발산적 사고를 유발하는 형식을 사용하였다. 이러한 미당의 ‘옛이야기’ 텍스트는 문학 교육적으로도 의미가 있다. 첫째, 문학의 수용 측면에서, 『삼국유사(三國遺事)』에 실린 작품들은 한국 설화로써, 구전되다가 기록된 이야기 문학이며, 끊임없이 구전으로 수용-생산 과정을 거칠 수 있다는 것에 대한 인식을 학습자들에게 심어줄 수 있다. 둘째, 문학의 생산 측면에서, 미당의 『삼국유사(三國遺事)』 재구성은 결국 고전 텍스트에 대한 독자로서의 미당의 적극적 이해가 반영된 것으로, 미당이 『삼국유사(三國遺事)』의 이본(異本) 생산자로서 참여한 것이라 볼 수 있다. 따라서 학습자들 역시 다양한 문학 텍스트에 대해 이본(異本) 생산자로 참여해 보는 학습을 계획할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to identify the contents and formal characteristics of the text reconstructing the story of 『Samgukyusa(三國遺事)』 in the 16-17 volumes of (2017), and to discuss how texts with these characteristics can be used in literature education. A total of six extracted data were organized using the content analysis method, and two characteristics were derived from the content aspect and from the formal aspect. First of all, Midang reconstructed the story of 『Samgukyusa(三國遺事)』, explaining the original work by using it as a space of imagination, adding a new story, and recreating it as his own “old story.” Second, Midang was the author of “Old Stories,” which reconstructed the tales contained in 『Samgukyusa(三國遺事)』 and showed the appearance of a book reviewer who occasionally inserted his opinions on the original text. In addition, as a formal feature, first, it was written in full spoken language in consideration of children assumed to be the main reader, and styles such as onomatopoeia, the use of mimetic word, and lively description were used. Second, pure questions and rhetorical questions were used in the right place as needed, and a form that induces divergent thinking was used. The text of Midang’s Old Story is also meaningful in literature education. First, in terms of acceptance of literature, the works published in 『Samgukyusa(三國遺事)』 are story literature recorded while being oral as Korean folk tale, and learners can be aware that they can constantly go through the acceptance-production process. Second, in terms of literature production, Midang’s reconstructing of 『Samgukyusa(三國遺事)』 reflects Midang’s active understanding of classical texts, and it can be seen that Midang participated as a producer of 『Samgukyusa(三國遺事)』 derived text. Therefore, learners can also plan learning to participate in various literary texts as producers.
