국문 초록

본 연구는 청소년기에 아버지의 죽음을 경험한 30대 성인들의 상실과 극복에 대한 해석현상학적 분석(IPA)이다. Smith 외(2009)가 제안한 해석현상학적 분석방법으로 접근하여 아버지의 죽음 이후의 삶의 내용, 상실의 의미, 자기치유 과정을 현상학적으로 분석과 해석을 수행했다. 연구에는 30대 성인 3명이 참여했으며, 개별 심층면담을 수행하여 원자료를 구성했다. 청소년기 아버지 상실경험의 공통성과 본질이라고 할 수 있는 13개의 본질적 주제가도출되었다. 이러한 본질적 주제들을 수렴하여 연구참여자의 체험을 현상학적으로 해석할 수 있는 대주제는 ‘상실의 늪에서 실존의 가닥을 잡아 아버지와 자신을 부활시키는 삶’으로 정리된다. 본 연구를 통해 아버지 사별에 대한 사회적 이해와 관심을 확산하고 죽음에 대한 인문학적 통찰과 새로운 사유의 장을 제시하고자 했다.

영문 초록

This study is an interpretative phenomenological analysis about loss and restoration of adults intheir thirties who experienced father’s death in adolescence. Using an interpretative phenomenologicalanalysis approach by Smith et al.(2009), the contents of life after the death of one’s father, themeaning of loss, and the self-healing process were described. Three adults participated in thisstudy, and the data were collected by conducting individual in-depth interviews. As a result, 13major topics were derived which could be the commonality and essence of the experience offather’s loss. The ultimate theme of interpretative phenomenological analysis, which was collectedfrom the thirteen major topics, was ‘a life of reviving one’s father and oneself by grabbing thethread of existence in the mire of loss.’ The study suggested spreading the social understandingand interest about father’s death, and presenting a humanistic insight and a new field of thoughton death.
